.45 ACP Ammo Recommendations???

Is anyone interested in splitting a case of 1000 for $200 tax in each? This would be for either S&B or American Eagle you choose. PM me If you are interested.

Thanks T

Sorry noob question what is privi?

I think it Czechoslovakian. Good stuff, hot and the brass is good to reload with (so I'm told, I'm not there yet myself). I also shoot rifle calibers with this ammo manufacturer without 1 hiccup. Just checked and its made in Serbia under the branding PPU. I've also misspelled it. Should read Prvi Partizan...(PPU)

What does everyone think of Winchester white box .45 acp 230g. Also does anyone know what the average cost is per box and who might have it in stock.

Thanks T

Norinco is $371/1000 shipped to your door. Keep the brass for reloading if you choose. S&B is $409+ tax and ship, think your math is off a little bit.

The best and cheapest I've shot is my reloaded stuff.

I can reload a round for 22 cents give or take a penny depending on price shifts. That comes out to $220 per thousand. It clearly doesn't take long to pay for the initial equipment cost at that sort of rate.

How is his math off??

He is talking about buying a case for 400.00 no tax and wants a partner local to him.

Exactly trying to split it up since I don't really need 1k rounds. Can someone help me with comparing Winchester white box to S&B. Is Winchester any better and or worth $80 more for 1000rds ($480) compared to ($400 S&B)?

Thanks T

S&B, CCI, Blazer very clean ammo. I shoot the S&B for the good brass as I will be starting to reload my own soon. Norinco....forget about it dirty, dirty, dirty cheap rounds and like their cheep knock offs I don't trust the quality.

Where are you getting 1000 S&B all in for $400? You said ($200 each all in earlier... where, as that is a good price).

Yep,

Cheap is good. If you shoot a tonne, then invest in reloading. In fact, visit managers at your local tire shops and ask that they kindly save you the lead wheel weights for you, if you also have time to cast your own bullets. That lead is just waste to them....

On a technical note: 1911's are made for round nosed ammo. My experience is that both wadcutters and semi-wadcutters do not cycle well in 1911 .45acp guns.... A non-1911 that cycles semi wadcutters just as well is the CZ 97, but it is often ignored because it is too heavy for IDPA competition.

What is a semi-wadcutter?
The semiwadcutter consists of a conical section that comes to a smaller flat, and a thin sharp shoulder at the base of the cone.

My retired dad, who likely will read this.... loves to reload semi-wad cutters because they make much prettier circles on paper and are great for IDPA competition... But like I said, 1911's hate em.... though having a 1911 with a ramped barrel feed does help... seating the bullet perfectly is key, and can be tricky to reapeat.

Cheers...

And honestly, any round nosed ammo, factory made, should perform fine. If you reload, you can decrease the power factor of bullets so their is less kick, but it is a fine line between less recoil and having your semi-auto cycle properly.

canadaammo.com is a sponsor here, and has the best price on Norinco .45acp I have found anywhere, sold in crates of 1000 (yes, real crates, but they are in individual boxes of 50)... and save the brass.... the Norinco brass is reloadable. 9mm brass is plentifull at any range, .45acp brass is gold.
