About 20 minutes into legal shooting time (and after 3 cow calls), my Mom whistled at me and pointed back towards where had walked from. A few minutes later I could see this guy swaggering through the trees like he owned the place. Mom shot and I saw him shake. He started walking away and she yelled "Hit'em if you can!" He swung his head back towards her and at 90.14 meters (according to my GPS) I put an offhand shot into the neck and he dropped on the spot.

We found out after Mom's shoot was a bit low, so it's a good thing I gave him an insurance shot.

40" Spread, I'll take it for a first moose :D

It's a family affair up here

Luckily, we had a fellow forum member (who wishes to remain anonymous ;)) on speed dial and he had an Argo

The .35 went right through. After doing some poking around, I'm sure the 9.3 bullet's in there somewhere...if I can find it I'll post results.

It's skinned and hanging in the shed now.

On a quick glance at the wording and before the pictures had loaded I thought "this guy" referred to another hunter not a moose....I was a bit worried for a second. :)

Nice moose! Congrats.

Nice bull and nice classic old-school Mauser's. Seeing all that orange clothing brings back memories of my early hunts in Ontario and Quebec when I lived in Ottawa. Glad I moved to BC. No offence intended. Again, nice bull.

Great eater, Cory. First of many to come. I like the family deal, they are the most memorable. Say hello to your mom and dad for me. Mike

Thanks again everyone! It still looks mighty big hanging in the shed.

Congratulations Cory. The first of many to come. That will be some fine eating!

Now, all we need is a picture of the bullet. Did you use the cruciform core Matrix?

Ted

Hey Ted, as soon as I saw the moose was dead I thought, "I hope I can recover the bullet to show Ted" :p

The bullet is still missing right now, but I think it's inside the skull somewhere. (I'm planning to do a Euro mount with it, so I've gotta get all the stuff out of there anyways.) If it's not in there...I have no idea where it went. I'll keep this updated if I find anything.
