About 20 minutes into legal shooting time (and after 3 cow calls), my Mom whistled at me and pointed back towards where had walked from. A few minutes later I could see this guy swaggering through the trees like he owned the place. Mom shot and I saw him shake. He started walking away and she yelled "Hit'em if you can!" He swung his head back towards her and at 90.14 meters (according to my GPS) I put an offhand shot into the neck and he dropped on the spot.
We found out after Mom's shoot was a bit low, so it's a good thing I gave him an insurance shot.
9.3x57 Husqavarna and a Mauser 98 action .35 Whelen - Some classic moose rifles
40" Spread, I'll take it for a first moose
It's a family affair up here
Luckily, we had a fellow forum member (who wishes to remain anonymous
) on speed dial and he had an Argo
The .35 went right through. After doing some poking around, I'm sure the 9.3 bullet's in there somewhere...if I can find it I'll post results.
It's skinned and hanging in the shed now.
