I am more concerned with your derogatory term 'Civie'
Not sure about you, but I am a Citizen. I own Sniper Rifles.
Civie is not a derogatory term. Many civilian outfits have "civie Friday" casual day. Call a rifle whatever you want, it's still just a rifle. Get down to the difference between a marksman, a sharpshooter, and a sniper. There are only a handful of military snipers in Canada. The others are either marksmen or sharpshooters. The cops have sharpshooters and marksmen, but not what the military terms "sniper." They can call that person a sniper, but they're not. A sniper is a killing machine like no other. A sniper will shoot any target when ordered, without question. A cop (who is a civie, by the way, they are civil authorities) or the likes will hesitate, get hung up on ethics, and botch the shot. The only real sniper I ever met, Blain Montroy, RCR, did tours in Cyprus and other places. Snipers will not eat, go potty, wear depends if they have to, do whatever it takes, and they'll shoot anything when ordered, without question or hesitation. No cop will do that. No "civie" will do that. I have carried a C7 and a Sig on the job, and they were "weapons" under those circumstances, not "sporting arms." When I got to the range with my Vaquero, it's a sporting arm, not meant for killing people. A golf club is a weapon when used as such. When the terms become blurred, then attitudes become blurred. That leads people on both sides to get upset. In seven years I'll be a civie again, with hair and hands in my pocket while chewing gum.
