I just ordered my first AR style rifle and already own handguns and shotguns. What I need to know is where to go to find 3 gun matches. I have just qualified for my Black Badge and I see that according to CSSA webpage that IPSC is the umbrella organization but I can't find info that deals specifically with 3 gun competition.
Any help out there would be great.
Thanks,
Glen

IPSC doesn't recognize 3-gun as a sport - they do have shotgun, rifle, and pistol as separate disciplines.

Many 3-gun organizations use elements of IPSC rules for their own rules - as a result, there were many many different rule sets for 3-gun.

USPSA has relatively recently brought 3-gun under it's umbrella, helping with the many rules set somewhat... but you'll still see plenty of "outlaw 3-gun".

This is odd... given that USPSA is technically a subsidiary of IPSC, but that's a whole new can of worms.

Outlaw 3g is bigger than USPSA ever was. Actually USPSA now follow outlaw 3g time plus instead of hit factor scoring. IPSC/USPSA could have taken the reigns and run this but dropped the ball big time.

I myself am somewhat unfamiliar with the technicalities of 3G. Thanks for that D!

Is "Outlaw 3-gun" in itself a set of rules or is it more of a collective term used to group several sets of rules together?>

It seems as is all the major's have adopted a fairly common set of rules/divisions...
The differences are minor enough that they don't really cause any headaches.
Pay attention to the shooters briefing and you'll be GTG.

Just this year my shootin' buddies and I have shot no less that 5 of the major US matches... 'We're not that bright and the difference in the rules between the matches wasn't enough to notice.
Even the division/equipment rules seem to have become common.

That said... I don't care what the rules are for any given match... As long as I can read 'em beforehand... Let's shoot!!
