I am shopping for the last piece of my puzzle.. a new trigger. I have an opportunity for a double stage KIDD but the price is .. high. I only want to reduce the trigger pull weight down from the factory OEM Ruger 10/22 trigger so i taught it was cheaper and "enough" to go with a trigger job kit.

What do you suggest me..

- If i only want to get a lighter trigger.. i have seen a few timney from sponsors here.. but what would be the best canadian choice.. ? (read.. good and in stock now)
- I dont think KIDD sell international directly to customers.. and official resellers are all out. Any big USA names ship trigger job / drop in assembly to canada.. ? (Brownells.. 100$+ = unknown paperwork process? im clueless)
- Does a double stage trigger always need 2 pull of trigger .. first to "unlock" it and the second to actually fire.. good safety for a super light trigger but could be annoying for plinking (i do both, accuracy shots mostly and plinking with the same 10/22.
- i would like to try and not go double stage personnaly.. but if there are no cheaper option, i need to move quick on it before it dissapear.

Thank you for your time, and information guys.

I just used the VQ kit and it dropped the pull to 2.5 lbs

and i also installed this

http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=32478/sku=713-000-091/Product/10-22-Trigger-Black

And polished the sear, Found a video on Youtube... Made a huge difference.... But if you want to spend 250$ on a Kidd Fabsports.ca will have them in stock in 2 weeks....

I was planning on the timney trigger but after reading a few rimfire forums and this is my plinking / hunting rig there is no point on spending all that extra cash....

cheers

A double stage trigger doesnt need two pulls of the trigger if im correct, its just got some smooth take up then when you feel resistance you know its going to break.
a single stage should have no take up and as soon as your finger touches the trigger its ready to bang... no take up.

Fabsports had a hammer/sear kit for something like $135 which would be the ideal middle of the road option.

I have done the drop in hammer upgrade on a couple 10/22's and while it does make baig difference I still feel the need for a lighter trigger to squeeze the tiniest groups possible out of my gun.

you both are correct.. double stage was 330$ .. i tried hard NOT to buy it.

i dont mind buying a timney from mystic at around 165.. or a KIDD trigger job kit at around 135$ (if i could find one at Fab..)

Wow... VOLQUARTSEN 10/22® DROP-IN HAMMER is advertised by Brownells to "Improves 10/22 Rifle Trigger Pull By 50%" for 35,99$
I had underestimate the power of the hammer.. if that is not true, maybe i can sue them for psychological damage after the deception. :)

I also just installed the VQ Competition Hammer and, WOW!!! I didn't measure the trigger pull, but I definitely would NOT want it any lighter now. I feel just a very short
bit of creep, then the round goes off. Can't go wrong for $60. shipped.

trigger jobs

I just got my original 10/22 trigger back from having Seth at Brimstone do a Tier 1 job on it for $100usd. I would highly recommend this.
Not including shipping time it took about two weeks. Breaks clean as glass at 2.5lbs with no take-up or over-travel.

If you are using it for hunting this is a good way to go. For benchrest shooting however, I would not hesitate at all to go for the Kidd two stage 6oz/6oz setup.
