FN C1 7.62 rifles

Just a tease

Stop teasing... you aren't being very funny.

*I miss my old FN!!!!*

WAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!

It's the best battle rifle ever made... when you run out of bullets, you can beat the enemy to death with it.

I have one of the Aussie L1A1's, with the FA selector. Before they went full prohib on us they made us turn them into CA's by modifying the trigger group. I still have all the paperwork from that, and the CA green card. Then they decided that they weren't CA after all, thereby depriving a bunch of folks that 12 () class. More bureaucratic facism. - dan

The FN AR is the closest you'll get, but it's 2k. I hear on the american forums that they are very accurate riffles though

The FNAR is great. I have one and I love it, if you have a good shot you can connect a group at 100 yards. I will be using it this year for dear hunting for sure.

From Battlerife " A lot of people believe this, but there is no truth to it. It is internet speculation / urban myth that needs to DIE."

I am going to have to disagree with you on that ....I carried one for 8.5 years in the CAF.
Bought one of the Ishapores from S.I.R but regretfully sold it before the classification change.

Chalkriver: Fercrissakes don't give away one of our darkest secrets!

Oh, get over yourselves already. Anybody who ever handled the myriad surplus FALs in this country knows how to jam the sear, and you didn't need to spend even 8.5 days in the forces to learn it. That doesn't change the fact that this had ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with the guns classification as prohibited.

Holy attitude buddy !!! You are the one who made the initial statement saying it couldnt be done...internet myth etc.
I just said you were wrong on that point ....I didnt get into the reclassification deal at all...

So lighten up a bit ...

A rifle is a a rifle is a rifle. The length of it's barrel, it's cyclic rate of fire, and it's magazine capacity should be irrelevant one you've been vetted and have received your PAL. The classification of firearms is arbitrary, redundant, and ridiculous. It and most of the other provisions of C-68 needs to go away. Ahhh, I feel better now.

In the 60's when I was in the army our basic armament was the FN C1 rifle. I am curious whether these were ever available as surplus and whether they would be restricted or prohibited. If they are available I assume the pinned mag rule would apply.

MY Grandfather had the rifle because he had to request it once he was done service but because it was a brand new rifle they didn't want to give it to him. It took him 6 months of fighting to get his rifle he just wouldn't go away. They offered him rifles off the back of the truck because they didn't want to give him a C2 He said no I want my rifle and he got it. Then when he passed away it went to his regimental museum because the CFO wouldn't allow me to have it even when they transferred it into my name and refused to let me keep it I wasn't old enough for a firearms license even though they gave me 1 to transfer the rifle over to the museum. I said no since it was my Grandfathers last request he had so much hassle getting the firearm and keeping it 100 percent legally he wanted me to make them squirm a little. In the end it was deactivated and put on display and his neighbor wanted me to have his collection but couldn’t do it legally he had allot of 12.2 and 12.3 firearms since my Grandfather was the only one with Grandsons they were hoping to save them from the scrap pile because they all had historical firearms. In the end they just handed them out to random people and who knows were they went because of it. I was asked to stick them under my bed which I said no I know if they think you stole a firearm you can get life in jail for it so for me it wasn’t worth it at all.

When they went surplus the Liberal Government bragged that they scrapped them all and no one got any of them. Very few people got there rifle because you had to be issused it and request it after your done service.

I was in when we transitioned from FN to C7 and I have never heard of anyone being able to request their rifle be issued to them on release...

The Ghurkas used to be allowed to take their service rifles with them, but I don't think that is still the case. When I did my 3's course in Chilliwack, I was was issued a pristine C1 (new I think). I would have loved to take that sweet heart of a rifle home with me.

Ever time I got posted to a new unit I would turn in my old rifle and EIS and get a new one at my new unit.
They were signed for on a “temporary loan card”
There was no chance that this was not a keeper.

I have never heard of anyone being able to request and keep his service FNC1. You may be a little confused in your facts.
