I would have thought killing 120 snow geese a day was enough, I guess not for these slobs...

Four waterfowl hunters from Indiana, United States, pleaded guilty on September 27, 2012 in Saskatoon Provincial Court to three counts each under the Migratory Birds Regulations of the Migratory Birds Convention Act, 1994 and were fined a total of $8,000.

The wildlife officers determined that the hunters had shot but subsequently failed to retrieve eight white geese, two of which were crippled and still alive. The hunters had also hidden 11 white geese in a nearby slough prior to being approached by the officers. It was found that the hunters had shot 166 white geese, mostly Ross Geese and some Snow Geese. The daily limit for white geese in Saskatchewan is 20 per hunter; therefore the hunters had shot 66 birds over their daily limit.

Do non-residents require a guide or host to hunt in Sask? They should BBQ him or her as well...........Harold

They should be refused entry into Canada again and the fines should have been higher as well as forfeiture of everything used commiting the offence.

X2 , well said. hit em in the pocket hard, loose your truck and all gear, thz for coming now f#*ck off and dont come back. we consider you an ecco terrorist now and due to homeland security you are forever banned from our country.

Yes, they were over thier limits. Can the world recover from thier 'exorbatant birdkill'?? I think so myself.

Bad hunters............next case!

Yeah.... Bad hunters but not as bad as the rampant poachers and trespassers of large game some guys are seeing around here. Not sure we should be issuing the death penalty like some of these posters are saying. Slap them with some fines and make sure they follow the rules if they come back to spend their money here again.

The farmers near me are begging guys to come hunt.

In my mind geese ceased being a game bird years ago when they started literally infesting and polluting cities, waterways and greenspace in addition to causing traffic jams and car accidents. I am having a very hard time giving a flying f the way I would if we were talking about deer, elk, moose, grouse or even ducks...So a gang of bad Americans shot too many...I am sure the 8k the Government collected from them will be used wisely lol..

The long and the short of it is that the law is the law and they broke it. Wildlife fines are never what they should be as most judges put little emphasis on our wildlife. IMO they should be fined the maximum penalty, they are "Guests" of this country and are abusing the rules set forth in our country. Some good stiff fines, jail time if fines are not paid before leaving and forfeiture of equipment etc might work as a good deterrent.
Yes the goose numbers are up there and continue to rise hence the spring season with unlimited limits, unplugged shotguns and electronic callers in some areas of our countries but until such time as limits are raised or done away with these are the rules and need to be followed. And I also agree with some of the others, you want to abuse it, you should not be allowed back.

Who cares...aint that the whole goal of waterfowling these days? Get hooked up with some outfitter that secures all the good hunting land so clients can slaughter birds in the name of tourism and economic development. Hammer time, pound em, smash em, cut em! Fill up the freezer and chuck them out in the spring. Who care about the local guy with a couple sons that want to shoot some birds. Lot's of home grown game hogs as well. One day the prairies are going to dry out again and we'll be back to 4 mallards daily... like it was back in the 80's. They got dinged, next....

These guys got caught which is good, the regs apply to all of us. People that would do this would behave the same way no matter the species so bring the full force of the law on them. Taking their guns would wake them up a lot more than the money. They probably got lots of money but their guns probably mean something to them like they do the rest of us. This type of behaviour gives big ammo to the anti shooting crowd. Ninety nine percent of us behave and these tools blow it off.
