Hey CGN community.

Was just wondering if the Czechpoint/CSA Vz-58 pistol was ever imported into Canada. If so are they still available for import? Does anyone currently stock them?

Second question? Is the Czechpoint/CSA 10 round mag classified as a pistol mag? If so does anyone have them available ?

Regards

I haven't seen any 10rd mag available for this pistol. However a pinned 30rd mag at 10 and this classified as a pistol could probably pave the way for us to have 10rds in a VZ58/858 without any modifications! (I am sure there is more to it though).

"The vz.58 pistol is manufactured by Czech Small Arms in Jablunka, Czech Republic and includes the following: two 30 round magazines, CD containing manual and historical information, sling, and cleaning kit.

The 7.62x39mm vz.58 pistol is selling extremely well and our supply is coming to an end. The remaining pistols do not have the side rail installation holes. For installation of the side rail, please see the link on the vz.58 pistol page for information and pricing."

The CSA "pistols" are sold as regular, restricted rifles here with their original folding stocks. No such thing as a CSA Vz.58 pistol in Canada. The states have them because it's an easy way to get them without having to register them as SBRs., even though you don't have the stock.

One thing you can do if you want to use 10 round magazines is to get a mag well adapter. CSA makes an adapter for their 5.56x45mm Vz.58s which lets you use pistol AR-15 magazines and (I think) B&T makes a mag well adapter for 7.62x39mm CZ-858s so you can use pistol XCR magazines.

A way without modifications if best. There have been some problems with the machining as well...

So why are the XCR's a pistol and not a rifle?

Because they're manufactured and sold as pistols, and imported without a stock.

If the US-version pistols were imported to Canada that would allow for the importation of newly made pistol mags to go with them. Just like with the XCRs.

The Canadian importers have completely missed the boat on this. They need to bring in 50 VZ pistols and 50,000 magazines.

i was expecting to see the 7.5" barrel compact as a pistol not the 11.5" .

so i will assume they must have welded the folding stock screw hole shut to qualify as a pistol?

Not even that. There's a threaded plug that's tack welded into the stock bolt hole. Apparently, you can grind the weld out with a Dremel.

And if you add the stock, you end up with an unregistered SBR in the states. A good way to get the ATF to dislike you very much.

Fortunately for us it makes no difference.
