Unfortunately my new job in Lloydminster did not work out so well and my GF was unable to resolve her custody issues back home so we have had to put our dream of moving the family west on hold.
So much for getting us set up and having them come out and join me. Oh well it was a good time out there while it lasted but like McArthur said when he had to retreat from Corregidor,"I shall return". In the meantime here are a few pics from the last hunt I shared with my buddy Chad before returning to Ontario this past week.. It was a great morning. I found the birds for us and Chad secured permission to go get them. This was the second time I found birds at this farm and we were granted permission to have at them. The farmer owns all the property surrounding a pretty fair sized lake so the roost never gets disturbed. The lake literally fills up with thousands of birds and they leave the roost headed for multiple feeding locations. I think half the birds that worked us were probably traffic birds each time. The first time we hunted the place we ended with our limit of dark geese(16), 7 ross and 3 snows. This time around we ended with 11 Canadas, 2 Specklebellies, we each folded one from a pair that came in, and we picked up 4 more Snows, 12 Mallards and 1 Pintail. It was a great morning and a great way to end my Western season. On the way back to the truck Chad busted a covey of Hungarians not less tha 50 yards from the truck! Unfortunately he had left his gun at the blind!! Oh well, next time I am sure he will be ready for them.
