Hey guys I'm a new shooter and a new member of Canadian gun nutz. I'm thinking of getting a non restricted pistol caliber carbine and was hoping all you experienced guys would be able to give your input as to what you recommend and where to get it. Was kind of thinking of a Just Right 9mm?

HK UMC- I think you can get the barrel done on that and make it non restricted. There are a few places that I have seen that bring them in now and then.
Beretta cx4

Kel tec sub 2000 9mm and it is non restricted and will fold up and you can put it in the glove box or center console. It would be good for on horseback or when your quading.

I bought a TD in 9mil that takes glock mags like the one in the video above. I have only had time to get it to the range once, but it work perfectly.
I had a 9 mil JR carbine , with I sold to a friend, because I could not justify having two 9 mil carbines .
I kept the TD because IMHO I think it is a better designed firearm . It breaks down easier and the charging handle actually locks into the receiver .
It is not held on with a hex head bolt and lock washer.
To be fair to the JR carbine I got one of the early gen 2's. I have heard that they are more reliable now.
But I got fed up with having to phone EMF after every visit to the range. My JR was a FTF,FTE, double tapping POS.
I talked via text to the guy who bought my JR and he said the charging handle broke off ???
I am not sure what happened , as it should be difficult to break a hex head bolt???
I hope I have better luck with my TD.

Jr carbine in .40 cal.
Although I'm also drooling over the CX4.

Here is a ( not so good taken with my iPhone ) photo of my old 9 mil JR carbine top.
And my new TD 9 mil ga bottom.
Both rifles are very similar. The TD cost a bit more , it is a little smaller or sleeker and is way simpler to break down.
They are both very accurate.
I also have the Kriss in 45acp and kel tek sub2k in 9mil.
I had a lot of issues with the JR carbine, but that said I really hated to sell it off.
I hear from a bunch of 9mil JR owner on this board that theirs runs flawlessly .

Which one is the best ?
That is an impossible question .

I ordered the JR because we were promised conversion kits.(not sure they ever materialized)
I bought the sub2K cause it folds in 1/2!
I bought the Kriss in 45, cause i got fed up with waiting for the above conversion kits.
I bought the 9mil TD cause I was fed up with phoning Tom at EMF every time I got back from the range with the JR.
I sold the JR cause I now have the TD in 9mil and Kriss in 45acp and do not need a damed conversion kit.
Now I am flat broke and really can not say which one is the best one. LOL!!
Hope this helps?

You never stated wants and don't wants .. Consider

Price
Mag size. (Some are limited to a 5 round mag)
Mag availability ( price )
Construction material
Parts supply and design ( complex or simple )
Caliber ( many are only 9mm ). If you own a .45 handgun .. Do you want to be buying additional ammo
Conversion from one caliber to another .. ( see above post )

Many factors ...

Thanks for the input guys. I'm leaning towards the jr 9mm or the cx4. I have heard of a lot of reliability issues with the JR but really love the look and that it takes the glock mags. The gun store owner assures me the kinks are worked out with the new generation. They also look great with a couple add ons. The cx4 has nothing but great reviews. The one I looked at came with a pinned 5 round mag. Do they come bigger? Ahh decisions decisions.

Every sub carbine I have uses a 10 round glock mag. The sub2k, kriss, thueron , and jr carbine !
Arms east sell the TD ga ( glock mag).
I put my name on the waiting list and he called me the moment they arrived!
Sent from phone so excuse the mistakes
