well, I'm new to this section of the board, so I'll start out saying I've been running bushnel elite 3200 scopes with good success for years...

BUT

I just got 15% off of a zeiss conquest 4.5-14x50. it was about 50% impulse buy. I intend to mount it to my remy 700 bdl in .270win. I know this gun can shoot .5 moa with my hand loads.

have I made a decent choice here? or should I be looking into more rifle for this scope? I'm not gonna lie... I'm a little scared of upping the optics bracket...

I own two of these scopes, one is on my Tikka Tactical in 223, and the other on my Anschutz 1730HB in 22Hornet. The scope is clear, bright, and tracks reliably. I consider it a fine choice for a varmint/target rifle, but I wouldn't likely mount it on a big game hunting rifle, due to the weight, and the exposed turrets that could be moved by accident, and not be noticed if you were in a hurry.

I only own one expensive scope and it's the same one.

Great scope, just can't really go wrong with it, particularly with Zeiss prices going down considerably compared to about five years ago when our dollar was about 0.74 cents.

I've got mine mounted on my 25-06 AI and my only regret is that I don't have a few more for my other highly accurate rifles....

I have/had 3 on different hunting rifles , weight was never and issue and the turrets never ever moved. Those turrets are pretty snug and do not turn unless turned with 2 fingers, not a bump from a tree branch.

You have a good optic there, and it will work well in close or far off and very well in poor lighting conditions.

They are great scopes. Glass is very good. I knew a guy that used one on his Tango 51. It is a lot of scope for the money. If Ziess would only make them with Mil turrets they would clean up.

mine is equipped with hunting turrets. they have the protective caps. the only issue could be accidentally turning the turret on the left side, though I don't think that would be to easy given the effort(smooth and deliberate) it takes to move it.

while I've got you fine people's attention, what's that turret for? it turns about 350 degrees and is labled 30-infinity. school me!

Dat dere would be your parallax adjustment sir, if that moves it won't change your actual adjustment but it may change your POI slightly because that is what corrects your zero.

Google parallax in scopes and you'll find way more than I can type here over the noon hour. not 100% sure if I worded it properly.
