I am going to start working up new loads for 4 of my rifles and would like the gurus input on bullet selections. Accuracy first, but must be a hunting bullet of some sort for each rifle. I haven't loaded for these in a long while and need to order some new supplies.

First rifle, 325 WSM 23" barrel 1-10 twist. I would like to find an excellent 8mm 200 grain bullet known to be accurate but meant for heavy game.

Second rifle, 7mm08 20" Barrel 1-10 twist. 120 to 140 grain at most preferably as I have the STW for bigger stuff. Same thing Accuracy and consistency first.

Third Rifle, 270 Win. 24" barrel 1-10 twist. What grain would be best for that twist? This will be mainly a deer rifle, with some range use.

Fourth rifle, 7mm STW 30" heavy barrel, 1-9 twist. I use this rifle for BR, and long range big game. I was thinking of 168 grain Bergers, any suggestions?

I am just looking for some ideas from those of you that have been more involved than I, too much info to sort through and I don't really want to buy 30 bullet types in 5 different weights each, and all the different powders I could use with each combo, lol. Actually I woulld love to buy all that, but my wife won't allow me to remortgage the house for reloading toys!

Thanks in advance guys! Bill

325 WSM - 200 grain Nosler Accubond.
7-08 - 139 Hornady Interbond
270 - 140 Accubond
7STW - 160 Accubond
Bergers are not a true "hunting" bullet, regardless of clever advertisement.
They are a great target bullet, however.
Enjoy, Eagleye.

I have seen a LOT of video on the Berger hunting bullets terminal performance on real game, the bullet that was previously the "target" version. I also know a few that now hunt with it, quick kills. I was skeptical also, maybe I should still be....

I like the accubonds a lot, but lately I have not been impressed with Hornadys quality control, a little leary of the interbond. However, your list ooks almost identical to what I had in mind, it has just been a while, and was wondering what bullets are considered top shelf these days.

Thanks for the reply!

Try the Hornady 140 grain boat tail in the 270. I have been using them in the Weatherby for a few years, and haven't found anything that needs a second one yet.

Monometal bullets for my hunting. Barnes TSX, TTSX.

Inherent accuracy due to lack of jacket so gyroscopic centre (as bullet spins) and geometrical centre of the bullet are in the same location.
In older cup and core bullets there were two components this is one = simple construction.

Nothing better for penetration.... and weight retention.

My 2012 bull had entry about 2 " wide as bullet stroke some twigs before reaching boiler room. This bullet penetrated about 30 inches and retained almost 100% of weight 178.7 starting at 180.

I was just doing a search of Barnes bullets when I came across this post. This is something I have become very interested in lately. I have shot a 300 Win mag loaded with 180gr Nosler BT for yet a few years and was always impressed at it's killing power. Last night I found a post on Hunting BC forum about the lead contamination of meat from lead bullets. It was a comparison between lead and copper bullets. I posted a Link to the utube video over in the General forum. I think the more people that know about this the better. I'm dumping all my BT bullets and going Barnes copper. http://www.huntingbc.ca/forum/showthread.php?87389-federal-premium-nosler-partition/page3

The only time I had an Interlock fail for me was on a nice whitetail buck [80 yard shot]
I was shooting a 270 Winchester and the Hornady 140 SPBT IL.
It hit a rib on the entry side and disintegrated. Small pieces of the jacket went in many directions.
None penetrated into the cavity. The deer ran about 60 yards, then stopped as if confused.
I shot him again, and this one went through the lungs, putting him down permanently.
The first shot left an ugly looking surface wound. Still do not know what happened, but swore off that bullet.
Regards, Eagleye
