1953 AK-47 Type 2 ** with pics.

I think the Yugo Paras were using the StG44 in some capacity up until the 80's?

Those are training jump guns. If they hit the ground from 700' no one really cared.

Canada used Ex1 and Ex2 FN trials rifles for the same purpose into the 1980s.

That's not a Yugo. If you want a chart to ID AK markings I have one on my other comp I can send you. Good for documenting LN weapon issue.

Thank you, that would be great, I have not taken the time to research the markings and I am glad there are more knowledgable people out here on CGN.

Early Kalashnikovs were well made specialist weapons intended for special forces and shock troops, it was only later that the design became a cheap to produce weapon of the masses. Just think, that badboy was being issued while while Western troops were still mostly getting M1 Garands or bolt actions.

I've been reading your posts for several months now and I've come to the conclusion that you have a very cool and interesting job !

What a great find !

WOW you have a cool job and a nice ass AK .... SO JEALOUS LOL

Its only cool up until they try to kill you, but it is interesting and I am enjoying it. I have been in Kabul for almost a year now. This morning I was at our front gate when we heard a large explosion from very close by... only tooks seconds to react and have the depot on full alert, cocked and locked... only to find out that a heavily overloaded 5 ton Jingle truck blew a rear tire (split rim style) just outside our gate (20m away). The Depot a km down the road even thought we were attacked, who would have thought an over inflated tire on an overloaded truck would make that loud of a bang?

Just another day in the Suck.
