Hello,
I'm looking to get into my first Ar-15, what I'm after is the best sub $2k piston Ar-15, preferably in 5.56, something with a quad 1913 picitinnay rail, 12"-16" barrel length. If you were me what would you buy?

What I like about mine.

- lightweight for a piston
- enhanced buffer tube to virtually eliminate carrier tilt
- carrier is connected to the op rod so the op rod isn't slamming into the carrier key during cycling.. Also helps big time with carrier tilt.

I'm a bit concerned with the longevity of the segmented piston system. Only time will tell.

I know these are minor, but vs other piston systems (hk, ruger, adams arms, stag) I have used. I feel its a pretty refined system. I got my mk107 for 2k plus tax
 
PWS, I have 2 and highly recommend them.

My 14.5 FDE has a much nicer trigger and better upper/lower fit then the 12.5 in black does.

I also know that PWS has some smaller military contracts for there rifles, other then the 416/417 I'm not sure what other piston driven variants have been chosen.

Its a very simple system that is easy to maintain and doesn't add a ton of extra weight. PWS is also a great company to help you out or answer questions, I've asked stacey questions directly many times in the past and got a prompt and friendly response.

The fact that there is not an impact to push the carrier back also really helps to smooth out the harsher recoil impulses that you typically get with piston driven guns, there isn't very much additional mass attached to the bolt carrier.

Also the PWS comes pre-magpulized and there isn't really much left to do it.
 
el diablo...so far, very happy with it...i just can't leave well enough alone and put some fde magpul, troy and larue on it...

they come standard with a bcm gunfighter mod 4 charging handle, so that hasn't been swapped out
