I don't see much difference in case design, and the STW has a tad more cc, so for me it gets the nod. Your mileage may differ, however. - dan

Chuck - yes, spending $500 just to get set up might make my mind up for me. Add the barrel at $400-500 and the smithing costs and I am not sure I am "keen" enough!

Cleftwynd - do you know what the shank diameter and thread is for the Titan II? My factory barrel has a .590" muzzle diameter and I like the balance.

No, I don't, Ralf Martini built the rifle and I never asked. It was my first Voere and my first STW.

And yes, with reloads using the right powder, you can get insane velocities from a 30"+ barrel. However, I found my most accurate load with 140's using H1000 at 3800 fps. The best load I had found for heavier bullets used H50 with 175's. However the new barrel is going to have a 1-9 twist instead of a 1-11 to be better suited for 168 grain bullets.

Yes, about that, depending on which brass you measure. The first 7 STW I built was back when it was still a wildcat so the dies and such were spendy back then. I also played around with a 7mm-300 Wby, that really is a ballistic twin to the STW, albeit with more freebore. I also tried a 7mm Yukon/7x66 Randle Argentinian (a 7mm-300 Win Mag, Improved). Now that the STW is a factory round, it really is easier to use. I like the Mashburn because of the history, but the STW really is the better choice for most people. FWIW - dan

I am on my fourth 7mmstw, and it is still my all time favorite big game cartridge. I have also owned 7mmremmags, as well as the 7mmRUM, and I doubt that I will ever own either of those two again.
