It was in the sealed bid auction, no photo and I couldnt go to the viewing so I punted £80 on it and decided that the worst that could happen is a parts gun. It arrived today and although it has been bubbad, drilled and tapped, cut and reweled bolt handle and shortened barrel and woodwork it is still a very pointable rifle and will get a replacement stock from Boyds a low mag scope and the ammo arrives next week from the same place costing about a third to half of what it should.

So I possibly wont restore it at least not until I have had some big deer with that lovely manly cartridge!

Bubba (or his English cousin "Lord Bubbaston of the Order of the Unholy Hacksaw") showed a modicum of restraint on this one. That makes for a trim little rifle. Not something I'd do, but not altogether ghastly to my eye...

Damn good score for 80 pounds!

I totally agree and it may sound blasphemous to some people but I would enjoy that little beauty just the way it is now.

Well I plan to use it and add to my sporter collection! I think it was done on your side of the pond as it only has new UK proof stamps from this year!

Another fine Lee-Enfield saved from destruction at the foul hands of Bubba!

(With a screen name like mine, that's as much as I'm allowed to say!)

Looks like a fine, handy little sporter! So many are butcher jobs; this one is not. This is a very nice Mouser.

With the bolt-handle swept the way this one has been, you will find the action very fast to use. Frankly, I don't know why they didn't just build them that way.

The cartridge is a rimless .303, uses the same components to reload. Likely you already knew that, but some guys don't.

When you toss 80 quid at something, friend, you REALLY get your money's worth!

NICE toy!
