My game cameras and salt licks were stolen off my property yesterday and i have seen trails that lead to a house of welfare *******s i have the displeasure of having to share this county with. Should i confront them? Can i confront them? What can i do if i see they are using my stuff? Should i steal it back? What should and could i do? I can't say for sure they stole it... lots of people coming in and out of that house.

I'm pissed!!!

Just the way it is, even if they were the ones that stole it there is nothing you can do about it and the cops won't do squat about something that small.

Go there and take it back, prove it wasn't theirs(good luck) and you get charged for theft, use the iron fist and get charged with assault.

I am speaking from experience here.

I would get another 2 trail cams and put 1 in the same place. Put the second one in a very well hidden locate watching the "bait" camera. Catch'em & make an example out of them.

that blows two years ago i had someone or someones steal my buddys blind and mine when we went to check another spot we where gone for only about 30 mins and it was gone, as said if you confront them it may blow it out of control and you could be the one in cuffs, maybe invest in a lock next time , it might make them move on next time

mine was stolen last month, I presume it was guys looking for pot and stumbled across an easy pick......I find it funny they stole the salt lick, wonder if they were trying to season some of their TV dinners with it.

There are trail cameras available now that record the images to a receiver at a 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] location so a person doesn’t have to go near the camera itself to get what’s been recorded. Purpose being, you don’t have to disturb the area your watching with scent or sound. Pricey equipment though, but in these types of situations perhaps worth the cost, maybe.

find out where they are hunting and pee around there set up if they havent sold them yet, or go high tech with a cam that sends live viedo to your computer and set it up exactly where the old one was set up, they will likley return to see if u replaced it so they can burn u twice, then you got proof

Human urine will not spook deer. In fact I make it a habit to pee into deer scrapes when I see them. There are several studies by deer biologists that suggest that deer can't tell who the urine came from, just that it is urine. I never have an issue filling deer tags and pass up many deer every season.

OP -> bummer that the cameras were stolen. I've often thought about taking a rotten white birch tree you see in the bush sometimes - you know one that has the wood rotten in the middle but the bark is still sound. Hollow it out and cut a few strategic holes into it to hide your camera so it looks like a broken off tree.

Not uncommon to have trail cams ripped off...but on your own property... that's just not right. There's a reason why cams are almost chained to trees. Unfortunately that dishonest segment of our population ruin it or those of use that were raised to contribute. And if these hunks of crap were actually caught, what would the outcome really be?

This is kind of on topic but a little off but let me relate a funny story. A buddy of mine was having trouble with a certain type of predator that shall remain nameless, cleaning out his trout pond so one day he has had enough and decides to sit up in one of his tree stands with his varmint rifle and wait for said predator to show up, then dispatch it. While up in the stand he sees a pickup coming down the concession road pull into his roadway leading to his pond. The truck drives on in and two guys get out, reach in back of the truck and proceed to put together their fishing gear. My buddy sits there watching in total disbelief at these two guys now casting into his pond. He says his first thought was to shoot their truck but uses the better part of sound judgement and hangs the rifle up on the hanger then proceeds to climb down the ladder to go confront these dudes. One of them spots him coming down the ladder and shouts to his buddy, they jump in the truck and take off but my buddy is close enough to get a plate number. Being an ex OPP himself he puts in a call to a friend, gives him the plate and finds out who owns the truck. They live about 2 miles away. Rather than confront them he asks his buddies in the OPP what can be done? They say not much really, we can charge them with trespassing or if you prefer we can make life really miserable for them and continually pull them over and ticket them. He said he went with option #2!! He said to me, won't be long before they are broke!!:evil: Guess that old saying is true, there is more than one way to skin a cat.......

check out the spypoint W2 i think its called.. has a video/image receiver that you mount 100m away from the actual camera, so even if you camera does get stolen, then you still have a chance to see the thief. If you live in southern ontario, then you'll have access to even more goodies. Spypoint is the way to go.

I've had two tree stands stolen & I still get mad thinking about it! With two 2 man ladder stands & a game camera at each of our spots, that's $800 in gear that could grow legs & 'walk off'...

Sorry to hear your hunting spot is frequented by thieves op... No other way to say it other than it sucks!

Cheers
Jay
