My God, that is one sweet one in a rare cal for a No.1, hug her tight!

i was lookin at a used no 1 varmiter in a 22-250.are these a out of the box accurate rifle.or do they need modifications to be fairly accurate.

Sorry two dogs, i haven't checked the thread lately. If you don't know me you will know my old truck. 2004 dodge reg cab black and orange "demon"

Have any of you owners free floated your barrel? I just did mine two weeks ago and what a difference.

Yes my dad just did one in 243 ... put a #8 shilen barrel on it and had a custom picatinny rail installed and mounted a Bushnell elite tactical scope. everyone told him he was nuts.... we went shooting a couple weeks ago and he was banging away at an 18 inch plate at 1140 yards. think he went 22 for 30 ... I ran his load on isnipe it went sub sonic at 1138 yards ... pretty funny

Ill try and get some pics. hes in the next town over and not real computer literate

That sounds awesome!

The quarter rib rail is the other accuracy factor of my rifle. Replacing the rib with a picatinny rail must have really worked. I'll probably leave mine because a varmint/target rifle it ain't. It groups very well in three shots but starts migrating south after that. Since it's a hunting rifle, the first cold bore shot is what only matters.

I have several No1s Starting with a stainless .375 H&H, a stainless 45/70, a 1-A .303Br, a 1-S-C limited 45/70 with a 26" Bbl and cirrcasian wood, a new in box 1A in 7x 57mm. I am also getting a stainless varmint in 22-250 it's on layaway with Clay right now.

Let's see, ......204, .218 Bee, .22 Hornet #3, .223 #3, 7mm Mag in custom wood, 7X57 International, 7STW, 30-40 #3, 30-06, 30-30, a bunch of .303's, .375 Win #3, .375 H&H fine line engraved, 45-70, .450 Nitro, ........that must be close to all!
And they all get hunted on a steady basis. Can't beat good looks and practicality on a gun or woman!!!

Ya if it works dont change it ... but Dave at Jennings Outdoors did all the work, seems Lots of gunsmiths wont work on #1's for some reason. But Dave seems to have done a real nice job if you ever need any work done. he put a Cericote type finish on it too.

ya thats right ... I did it ! I resurected the ruger No1 #### ! It took me a bit to get these pics because my Dad lives out of town ... Thought there would be some fans that would like to see this ! Cant say as ive ever seen or heard of a ruger No1 done in target tactical ... but here it is ! My dads Frankenstein !

not sure the contour of the barrel but ... its heavy and its a Shilen , also cerakote finish. Rifle is not free floated, its chambered in 243 win, Those groups are at 200 yards ! and yes i have seen him pound Iron at 1140 yards lol ... keeping in mind his load goes subsonic at 1138 yards.
