Is the CSA 7.62 basically the same as a Cz-858

There is a $200 price difference I see that the CSA has an adjustable stock and nicer hand grips and painted black. Besides that are they the same rifle? I see you can get the CSA IN 5.56 too. What advantage is the 5.56 or disadvantage does it have over the 7.62. Why would I buy a CSA instead of a CZ-858?

i think the csa comes tabbed so you don't get the " gremlin " problem..

but if your handy with a welder, its easy to tab... love the 858

There are tons of threads and posts asking and debating the exact same thing. Have a look around......

I'll tell you what I did...... Went out and bought both a CZ-858 and a CSA-58 both in 7.62 mainly to have the same ammo. Plan A was to check them both out and sell one of them. So far I'm not interested in selling either, so I guess that says something, eh.....

Not a bit sorry and certainly glad I went with the 7.62. Both rifles work perfectly even though the CSA has a better finish.

for me it was how i pulled the trigger... if you let the trigger return quick .. the gremlin went away but if you held the trigger or were too slow to let it go... i'd get the problem where the action wasn't cocked ... i'd pull the trigger and nothing happened

the test i saw on the net was to depress the trigger and keep it held down..... then cycle the action and attempt a dry fire.... if you hear a click... ( then you don't have a gremlin ) ... but in my case i would hear nothing and had the gremlin ....

- didn't take long to tab it... and all my problems went away... and by jeez, this is one hell of a nice gun... just need to get a 5 round clip and i'm super happy with it

To the OP

no matter which one you buy, you will be happy in the end. Just remeber that the CZ comes with 4 mags and a mag pouch and bayonet while the CSA comes with just 2 mags

THere was an identical thread to this one only a week ago. CSA is newly manufactured with top quality fit and finish. Comes with only 2 mags but has a tabbed bolt carrier and can be had with either wood or plastic furniture and a pistol grip/M4 style sliding stock. The 858 is surplus, painted in an ugly color, not well finished on the outside. Bolt carrier is not tabbed so gremlim MAY exist (may not though). Comes with 4 mags and is only availiable with wood furniture in fixed or folding stock.

IMO, the 58 is worth the extra if you want a gun you can show off and be super proud of. If you just want a really fun gun to bash around and shoot off lots of surplus the 858 will do you just fine.
