No, because it does drain the battery if left on. One myth I can dispel: it does function without a battery (albeit not as bright, but that could've also been because I was indoors).

There's no reticle - just a single red dot that you can adjust the intensity on. I'm still reading through the manual...

Nope, it's just a straight-forward adjustable red dot - not unlike the Aimpoint Micro.

Depending on what distances you want to run it out to, I might suggest taking a look at an Elcan Spectre DR or one of the 4x ACOGs. I was checking out some of the new green reticles that Trijicon offers, and they're very nice.

Dont want to side rail this thread but I was considering the Spectre on it and my swiss arms already. Ill just wait a bit first and see

Oooh, those are quite nice, I think i'll have to get one of the xtm hand stop kits as well. I really need to get a rail for my AR for some extra real estate, especially since I just got a smoking deal on a Surefire M952V and the SR07 pressure switch.

You may want to check out the VLTOR NSR (armtac.com) or KAC URX 3.1 (oneshottactical.com).

The KAC URX is really nice, but i'm already set on the DD MK18 RIS II:cool: Now I will wait and hope that I win the MK18 rail One Shot Tactical will be raffling off.
 
Had the chance to try the sight Saturday. Aside from a little hint of green on the glass I like the sight but much prefer the eotech. Glass is very clear and the body is very well made. As mentioned it is very easy to mount and to take off. Is it worth the money? Time will tell.

Agreed. One thing I forgot to mention is that you can also install a kill flash on the SRS.
 
Looks good Jay! I wonder (when you have time) could you place the SRS beside a T1 on a mount or on rifle for looks and size comparison directly? Just for comparison. Maybe it is the PDW platform it's on but it looks just "larger"?

Not feelin' the love...
Micro + mount = less than half the weight, at 2/3 the cost of the SRS.
Not sure what the 'hub bub' is about....
I was considering the SRS...I have yet to heft one in person...but being a 'Micro devotee', I'm struggling to see why I would change.
By the by....picked up one of the Trijicon RMR dual illumination units, and can't for the life of me see why someone would prefer it to a Micro.
Just sayin'...

Those are all legitimate arguments. If your Aimpoint Micro is working great for you, it's probably not worth switching. For me, I prefer the larger depth of field of the SRS over the Aimpoint Micro. It just seems easier on my eyes and better to pickup targets through it. YMMV, naturally.

It's hard to appreciate, but when you physically compare it to a Micro setup - it's literally 3-4x the size - so the fact that it's only twice the weight is somewhat impressive. If it was 4oz lighter, it would definitely be a game changer.

I realize that the RMR isn't the same as the Micro - I was just saying it's the closest comparison in size/weight/price. Some people do run the RMR as their primary optic; I assume they have their reasons.

Addendum: this isn't meant to be a ringing endorsement for the SRS; there are certainly other setups that are just as good if not better. My eyes unfortunately aren't what they used to be, so I've had problems with the reticles in the EOTechs and to a lesser degree, the Micros. The SRS doesn't seem to have any of the visual drawbacks that the others present.
 
Good points hopefully I can take a boo at one soon. My eyes have issues to I couldn't even use a magnifier behind any of my T1s for that reason alone :(. Ill Definetely take a peak myself before jumping is as they're expensive for sure.

Very nice! What's your initial impression so far? It feels a little wide when I held it in my hands compared to a Aimpoint Micro T1 or even the M4 Comp.
