Did anyone replace the fixed sights on these pistols?
If so, what aftermarket sights did You put on instead?
If You don't mind me asking - what was the cost involved in such operation?
Does it make sense, or should I go with one of the newer pistols instead?
Could You recommend the gunsmith who did that job for You, please?
Thanks a lot.

Rodger Kotanko quoted me $135 ($60 for the sight, $75 for installation) to install an adjustable Bomar sight on my Norc. A new fiber optic front sight to match the Bomar is $50. I just have to get to sending him the slide for the work to get done.

Stefan at TSE charged me $150 to mill the slide and mount Heinie sights on an FN Hi Power junt under two years ago. It isn't a 1911, but the job is basically the same.

Rodger did my Norinco a couple of years ago 1000 percent better. He did a great job even reblued the slide.I shoot my Norc all the time now.the S+W 1911 i have collects dust.

Thanks again. I see that it can be done with fairly little cost involved - that was my initial doubt.
I'll place an order for one of these pistols soon.
May be nice project for the long, dark, winter months.

I had these put on my np29, they were not expensive and my local smith installed them for $35. Think I paid the same for the sights from Brownells. They are fixed and the front is a staked post like the original was. Newer version of the nork have a milled front dovetail I think.

Are those MGW sights or someone else? I have the MGW's on an older tuned NP-29, but they won't ship north anymore.

I found LPA makes a nice adjustable rear sight that slides into the Norc dovetail.

For the front, if the Norc has a dovetail, it is an oddball (small) size. best best is to buy a Colt dovetail front sight and have the gunsmith widen the slide dovetail to the standard size.

If your Norc has a staked front sight, it is the Colt M70 size. best bet is to machine a Colt sized front dovetail and give up on stake ons. They tend to break off at the wrong time.
