this rifle is restricted or not?

It's restricted and you're limited to 10 rounds...I'm in the process of importing one right now. It's actually made in Germany by Carl Walther and imported by Umarex...I make that distinction so that the airsoft comparisons don't come up.

Ah...tricky one.

Should obviously be non restricted, but......being an evil AR derivative it has to be restricted as with other AR .22's.

HK .22's that mimic the MP5, HK91/93 are prohibited in Canada. This looks exactly like an HK416, only the magazine gives it away and that would make it restricted.

Now that's my logical assumption, which does not apply to canadian gun regs of the day/year/mood, etc. So just vote conservative, support the canadian gun lobby, pester your MP - politely, and pray and wait, wait, wait.... hey when are those MP44 style rim fires getting here?!

All said and done...about $700 (assuming the unmentionable company pulls through). <-- to the question of cost

yeah no doubt i will have too..

But seriously anyone have a serious answer why this .22 would be prohibited?

barrel length??? nah..

HK?

Some guns have been/are prohibited just based on looks!

So if it looks like an evil HK sub gun, or an AK47, it's prohibited.
So it's hard to guess how some guns will be classified, and they can always change their mind too, Brordo may wind up with a very exclusive gun if the "door closes" after his slips in. For example what happened to short barrelled SW MP15's. They were advertised for sale in Canada, and then....

Don't try to understand the Canadian classification department. Just know that if it looks like an AR it's probably going to be at least restricted. If they are in a good mood that day it may slip through as non.

Being HK should have nothing to do with it since we are allowed other HK's like the SL8 series.
Being a .22 barrel length shouldn't make it restricted.

See, no sense. Just accept it and look for something else if you don't want restricted.
And like Big BeaverBoomStix said "just vote conservative, support the canadian gun lobby, pester your MP" Only way anything will ever change.

The M&P 15-22 is supposed to be a pretty good rifle that looks the part.
I like the ISSC other than the price for a rimfire.

The 10 round version already has an FRT number (listed restricted). The 20 and 30 round mags are prohib (info thanks to Blaxsun). I don't know of any Cdn. retailer bringing these in (or able to get it) hence the reason I'm attempting the import. When it arrives in my hand or not (I'm told mid next month), I'll start a thread outlining how things went.

just because it is classified as restricted because its an AR it has to be 10 round max????

why some .22 rifles can have a 25+ round mag? because they are not restricted?? OK i get it **** canadian firearms laws you guys are right..

10 round max because there's a pistol version and the mags are the same.

Yea, but you can legally get and use hi-capacity mags that are compatible with restricted AR 22's, like Black Dog mags, and I heard the guy in video say that the HK accepts those.

It is really confusing but you'll get up to speed and be explaining it to the next guy, until we get these crazy rules straightened out.

Remember non-restricted AR's? I do.
