Convince me, why

They definitely are as long as there is a range close to your home within reasonable driving distance. When I hear some guys drive an hour and half each way to a range that is open 2 evenings and one Sunday a week, I cringe and cry a little every time.

Damn right! It should be open 2 Sunday's a week!

Every single member on this site should own an AR. In any caliber, even if they never use it.
Just so happens that an AR in 7.62x51 is the king of AR's. I also want one in 338 Lapua when there are a few more manufacturers making them. When money permits I will own one in 338 and 308 because my .223 and 300 blackout need to socialize with more of their own kind.
The more people that own them the harder it is for our retarded government to make the laws relating to them more restrictive. You are showing your support for our rights to own them and making it harder for the government to take them away from law abiding citizens who legally own restricted firearms.
It has nothing to do with practicality and everything to do with supporting the shooting community in Canada.

And when the zombies come you'll be glad you have it ;) LOL.

Same goes for pistols.

But other than the cheap plentiful ammo that you can put 1000 of in a pocket and how quiet it is why would you want to go with the minimum. My AR is going to be my zombie gun, at least till I run out of .223 or get eaten. If I last long enough I'll prob end up using the rem 597vtr and .22 pistol.

Has anyone seen any zombies yet? I'm getting anxious. Time for a change in the way the world operates.

hehehe, where are all the anti zombie guys? I keep trying to :stirthepot2: but I'm getting no bites (get it? bites:) )

I will do everything in my power to say "FAK YOU" to any liberal out there. When the heat dies down from the girlfriend for my last AR I'm getting more.:D

No, just the part about buying an AR. Nothing says **** you Liberals like owning an AR.

Zombies only require a .22, therefore Ruger 10/22 will do nicely.

100% Agree, wife and I both bought AR's, and the kids will be next, vote with your wallet - exercise your rights or lose them.

That said a .308 AR is definitely out of reach for now, lucky OP to have that kind of decision to make, enjoy!

this is why I have two

also sheer awesomesauce

zombies are imaginary people....

you should be preparing for either
1. Aliens
2. Nazis
3. Killer robots/AI's
4. Time traveling jerks

A 308 AR isn't any more expensive than a mid level AR15 so other than the price of ammo there isn't really any reason not to own one if you want one. Armalite or Remington (DPMS built) and a couple others can be had for a reasonable price. If you have to have LMT or one of the other upper tier AR10's then ya they get a little pricey.

What descision? I want them all. I guess the only descision is what order to buy them in :)
I would have bought an AR10 instead of the 300 blackout but I already have an RFB so I don't really need another semi auto 308 right away.

You have no real reason to spend $3K on a restricted firearm. Not to mention that in YOUR lifetime, it will always be a restricted (maybe even prohib) item, which means you will never fully have fun by shooting it outdoors.

Spend that $3k on a cheap diamond ring for your wife, or get a real .308 you can take out and shoot in the bush. Wouldn’t it be much nicer to have a variety of firearms you can shoot, like a nice .308 Accuracy International or Sako TRG or similar. But keep in mind, to properly build an AI .308 (AI AX for example) it’s gonna cost you around $12000 after tax. No biggie as you’re already $3K closer!

Have you ever shot one of these 308AR rifles? They are extremely fun to shoot, very accurate and Have a feel of being higher quality than their 223/5.56 versions.

I like bolt actions as well but shooting a semi auto that can keep up with a decent tactical rifle is pretty cool. Unless you have an extra 35-75k around for the Walther 2000 then the 308AR is pretty much your only choice.

You can also get a decent target grade version for $2K.

Good one :)

A 308 AR was going to be my next AR until I saw the PWS 10" in 300 blackout that blaxsun was selling. Guess who has a new upper in the mail:) his sales techniques are hard to resist. These aren't the droids your looking for.

Yes Blaxsun had some nice gear. Congrats on the purchase. I give it a month before you're back to looking at the 308AR rifles again!!! AR rifles are a disease that makes the 10/22 affliction seem like the common cold in comparison.

I should have been a little more specific, but I don’t have time alway to type out every thought…
Ok so, if laws allowed, I’d build a KAC or LMT .308 AR and use that for my "sniper" style rifle out in the bush. I love bolt action rifles, but after shooting many different AR platforms I am sold that a semi-auto .308 is the way to go. I would love to have both but I am one of those people who, if given $$$ to spend on an expensive rifle, would buy a non-restricted for the pure fact that I can "use" it in the field. Tac shoots are cool and all and crucial for training, but nothing beats slinging your rifle on your back in the field, hiking up to your spot and making 1000 yd shots with nobody around to tell you what to do.

Now for some KAC movie goodness (f*ck yea!):

I have a real reason to spend $3000 on a restricted rifle. Because I want one.
Guns are my hobby and I'll spend whatever I can afford to buy what I want. And I already have a "real 308".
Why not buy restricted fun rifles and pistols and the stuff you are talking about. I have a $7000 non restricted bolt action and a non restricted semi auto 308 and I still want a 308 AR. You just need to save up between purchases and you can have all the rifles you want.
What you really have no real reason to buy is a $60000 pickup truck when a $20000 used one will do the same job and all the money you saved will pay for any maintenance you need along the way and take the family to Disneyland. Another thing you really don't need is a 3000+ sqft house for a family of 4 that costs a million dollars. But guess what, people still buy them.
The world we live in today has nothing to do with practicallity or usefullness, it's all image and what you "want" nothing to do with what you "need"
Spend it all, you can't take it with you.
And since the world is ending in December anyway it won't matter.

Everyone has their own priorities and will waste their money on what they think they want or need even if it seems rediculous to others.

True you can get a great .308 from about $1600 new, maybe a little less, but I'm still paying off my Daniel Defence in .556, so it's at least a year down the road for me to step up to the .308 AR platform.

You want them all - what are you a gun nut?! ME TOO!!!
