Not sure about other calibres but getting more than 500 rd boxes of current quality Federal / CCI ammo is just not available.

What gives are our American friends stocking up on all the available ammo.. or are all the Hunters downsizing to 22LR for bear hunting LOL.

Wanted 5000 rds of Federal and 1000 CCI and NADA..

Looks like the ammo dealers need to sell flowers or something else to make a living...

You know.... it is hunting season where 90% of hunter/shooters buy thier ammo this time of year. No different than trying to find a sale item of boots in size 12 or jackets in size XL. They are grabbed up in no time. Unless of course you are a little man who wears a medium. LOL

You have to be checking the sites every day or few days .. I bought about 2600 rounds from SFRC about a month ago and it was their last group of 525 boxed Federal .. A week later they had a new supply and it sold off their web site in hours .. So you may just be missing the opportunities .. Unfortunately I live so far back in the woods I have to walk out to hunt rabbits , so bulk by Canada Post is my only salvation .. So I have to do the scans .. I also bought the last CCI Max-mag that Canada Ammo had ... A few weeks ago .. Sorry about that ...

I would really love to live somewhere where CTC / Walmart sold ammo .. Two lucky places in Canada have a Bass Pro location ..

Anyway good hunting .. For ammo that is ....

Comment: ( Hate Ipad .. Comment below is a box of .45apc not .22 )

As an example .. The local gun store sells a box of Federal (50 rounds) for $48.00 .. Local is an hours drive away on a unpopulated Moose ridden highway .. I do not have to walk out of the woods to hunt Moose .. I can use my Highlander

Hunting Season. .22s?

Hunting Season. .22s?

If buying in bulk for the $ discount and paying Canada Post (purolator) / Ups to deliver I would include my required .22 ammo as well .. So it is a valid reason .. Or just people attempting to get their last days in a the range in the land of the soon to be Frozen North ...

Another thing to consider (and it has been mentioned in the news)...everytime there is a presidential election down south Americans stock up on ammo...just in case.
(just in case what, I don't know, no recent president has even mentioned banning firearms)
I remember the last election (when Obama was elected)...trying to find .223 was well nigh impossible for a couple of months.

Most kids begin there first few hunting seasons with .22 cal. I'm not at all surprised that the shelves are low this time of year for .22cal. I find the best deals on cases of 5000 are in the spring when gopher season begins, and thats when i pick up mine every year.

Bulk .22 ammo usually sells for a good price at various times and many people take advantage of it. Since storage of 3000/5000 round cases of 22 takes very little space, people buy it for future use. Most times, you shoot a few hundred rounds in the bush or on the range.

I did not mean to disparage anyone, any activity or any caliber.
I am not a hunter.
I only shoot handguns (and only own .22s) so, my immediate reaction
upon hearing (or reading) .22, is "paper targets".

And yes, correct, kids whose parents are bringing them up and educating them properly
are taught to shoot early and .22 is certainly the way to go.

No shortage at my house. When ammo goes on sale at our local Co-op, I buy cases, not bricks. I can now hold off the Chinese army for four months of heavy fighting, instead of just three.
