22lr DA Revolver

Bought my Ruger DA revolver from P&D Enterprises. Price was right. Check with them if non are listed on their website call them to see if they expect any in soon. Great accurate revolver.

If you are shopping for quality 22LR- buy Smith & Wesson model 617, Ellwood Epps can get it for you fairly quickly.

They have it in stock most of the time, just not at this moment.

There are three main .22LR DA revolvers currently in production and available in Canada, S&W 617 (10 shot, Smith quality, but a Smith price, this is the best option but the most expensive, I just found one after calling all the site sponsors, no one has them in stock, they're very popular and hard to come by now a days) then the Ruger SP101 (I believe it's an 8 shot, very popular as most Ruger hand guns are these days) then the Taurus Tracker (9 shot and your most cost effective option)

I can find prices on the Rugers, but how much do the others go for new? These are a little pricey for me right now, any good value SA revolvers to add to the list <$500?

The only quality options are S&W or Ruger. The best value would be a used S&W Model 17: They're substantially less expensive than a new 617, you will never wear one out, and they will tend to appreciate in value.

Yup it is. Love the gun. P&D had at least two earlier this year and I managed to get one of them.

Very nice! One is on my must buy list...hopefully they start showing up in Canada again. I also looked at the 617 but like Condomboy said they are scarce right now and a bit pricey even for used. I prefer to spend my $900+ on a centerfire...but that's me.

Good advice, watch the EE and when one comes up just buy it at the ask if the price and condition suit you. They are amazing quality, nothing like what is being produced today.

Just when you think the thread was gone....I'm in the market for a .22lr revolver but want a Full-size.
I handled Ruger's Single Ten. It had the heft but I found it small.
Are there any DA/SA .22lr revolvers that are scaled 100% like their center-fire brothers? I'm thinking S&W617 or Ruger sp101.
Anyone know where I can find a Full-sized DA/SA .22lr revolver...new or used? Yes, I'm watching the EE:)

Thanks.

Reliable Gun had a used 617 for $799 when I was looking and then found a brand new one for $909

I saw the same one at RG. But I'd spend the extra $109 (like you) to get a BNIB. Is the 617 frame size identical to their 686?

I like the DW and Llama Comanche route because of their size. How do these two stack up against the 617 and can they be found?

I think the 617 is a K frame, not an L frame. I went the opposite direction. I find the idea of shooting .22LR out of a big, heavy K frame ludicrous, so I bought a 12(6) Model 34 and had a new barrel installed to make it restricted. Total cost was about the same as buying a good condition used 617 off the EE. I now have a sweet S&W .22LR J frame, which suits the small cartridge much better and works ok for my kids' smaller hands.

Mark...interesting idea! But how does someone buy a 12(6) HG to get it converted to restricted class? btw...I'm not 12(6)
For some reason I thought the 617 frame was identical to the 686. I must have read the marketing material incorrectly.
