My great uncle gave me this rifle which wasn't looked up favorably by his own children. He just liked me better....

So what can you tell me about this rifle? As you can see it's heavily pitted in the pictures but I would like to maybe get this back to full wood. Pickup a new stock and have a winder project?

It's a Pattern 14 rifle and I believe it was made by Winchester in 1917?

Definitely restorable. As you said, Pattern 1914 Enfield, made by Winchester in 1917. She was in England after WW2 and was sold into the commercial market and likely exported in the 1960s (BNP marking on barrel).

Good find :).

The two proof houses here in England stopped putting the 'NOT BRITISH MAKE' stamp on guns in 1953. GR stands for Georgius Rex, who died in 1952. This gun is Birmingham proofed.

Nice piece to have.

George VI died in 1952, that GR stamped was done under the reign of George V who died in 1936.

I should also mention the bore on this rifle is beautiful! My Great uncle never fired more than a box of ammo through the rifle before he died!

Google "Marstar p14". They have pretty much everything you need. If they don't, Numrich Gun Parts in the US will top it out. The parts are still available.
I've rebuilt 2 so far and looking at a third.
Have fun

Marstar is sold out of the stocks sadly.

Any help in listing the parts I need to find would be a great help. I'm not sure all what I need.

It's Numrich then
You need
stock
upper and lower handguards
Handguard ring
Lower band
Upper band
upper band screw
lower sling swivel and screw
rear swivel assembly
And that should do it
I don't see a * on the rifle anywhere. If there isn't one, then you have a rather scarce model. I thought that most if not all 1917s had gone Mk1*. It is a Winchester and that makes it even more so as they produced fewer rifles than the other manufacurers.
A great find. Don't refinish it and try for a Winchester stock. If not, get anyone for now and keep looking for the original.

Ok so far Numrich doesnt seem to carry stocks for the P14 and is sold out of the rear sling swivel and lower band.

Thanks for the list! I'll start ordering parts

Very nice. I would take her to the range and give us a range report. I have a P-17 Remington in full military dress and it is very accurate. I believe the Winchester made P-14 and P-17 are the most sought after.

Why not find the wood to bring her back to her Military splendor and keep the Bubba stock for hunting if you are into hunting?
