My new .50 Beowulf

What are these plastic mags like when it comes to running 5.56/.223?

I was under the impression .50 Beowulf had a different follower, that made it impossible.

Ok, I have a request, and this thread seems like a good place to ask. I would like to have six .50 Beowulf cartridges in my range bag, so that if it ever comes down to it, I can prove that the magazine is limited to 5 rounds, despite being filled with 13 rds of 223.

I don't want or need primers or powder, just the brass with the bullets seated. I would be more then happy to pay for the cost of the brass and bullets, plus shipping and some extra for your time. Primer pockets can be blown, brass can be cracked. All that matters is that they feed properly into a 50 BW mag. It would be a lot easier to just buy some snap caps, but they don't exist.

Thanks

Actually that sounds like a pretty darn good idea.

I like to cover all the bases. I don't ever want to risk loosing my security clearence due to some BS "prohibited device" charge. Armed with the labeled 50 BW mags, 6 round of 5 BW (the 6th is to prove that no more can fit in) and a printout of the RCMP magazine regulations, I feel safe. Pretty stupid that I have to do all that, but hey, I would still rather live in Canada then Afghanistan(oh wait, that's where I spend most of my time), despite the sometimes backwards laws.

the GI mags have a 50BW follower and work great with 223...

It sure would be nice if one or two folks in this thread who actually have these could put up a picture of two showing how the rounds sit in the magazine against the follower. I believe it from the video's and such, but, for interests sake this would be nice. I'm looking forward to getting my hands on these, as, this is a great solution for service rifle and three gun now. I'll take 13ish, as, I only need 10 in a full length mag for service, and, 13 coupled side by side will do nicely for three gun applications and such.

I can't post pics loading the mags because I'm out of the country for a few more weeks, but here is a picture of the follower in my 50 BW polymer mag that my wife took for me.

And here is a standard PMAG follower.

Thanks man. This answers all my questions. Now to get me on the pre-order list....

Yeah, I would be concerned that they put the rivet in the wrong place. Might want to just double check so you don't end up getting screwed for the sake of someone else's mistake.

You guys are funny. As long as they don't hold six .50 Beowulf rounds, you're good-to-go. 5.8-5.9 rounds probably translates to 18 rounds of 5.56mm. I think you'll probably expect more looks due to the fact it holds more than 5 or 10 rounds...

"Norincodude" repositioned his rivet to 5.8 rds of 50BW and was only able to fit 14 rds of 223. I don't see how 18 rounds would fit without going over the 5 rds of 50BW limit. I'm home in a few weeks and will see how many rounds fit into my polymer mag.
