140" 8 point whitetail (a question for the trophy hunters). crappy pics now posted

And out West we don't count both sides to make our deer sound bigger. A five point out here, has five points per side.

I'm of the same opinion myself.
Must be a regional thing, eh?

It is a regional, provinical or state thing. These area's measure deer in different ways. They are measured by either body weight, width of antler spread, total points on the rack, total points counted on one side of the rack and total points measured on one side on the rack which does not include the brow tine. Western Canadians usually count only one side of the rack, but what if the buck is a 5x4? Is it a 5 pointer or 4 pointer?

To reply to the OP's comment, I suggest to let that buck grow another year and maybe he will be a 150 class 4x4 next year.

I would post some pics, but I don't know how to do it on my BlackBerry. I would be more than willing to email them to someone If they wanted to post them for me.

Here are some pics of the buck. I hope it worked.

You really are "Under the gun" on that one. 10 pointers always score higher just cause theres more to measure, as long as they are symetrical.

Nothing wrong with a 140 class deer with bow or gun... a lot of hunters have never seen one that size and would be more than happy to pull the trigger.

So it all depends on how badly you need a decent size rack... if its youre first big one, take it.

If you are hunting for sport and have killed a lot and dont need the meat,... Id pass on the shot.;)

140" 8 point is a friggin beast. I don't think that buck will touch that but I can definitely say I'd be letting the string sing on that buck! He's probably 130 gross, MAYBE touch 135.

Seen one 150" 8 point and that thing dwarfs every 150" 10 pointer out there.
