I want to build a "10/22" style semi-auto rifle consisting of basically all KIDD accessories, except the receiver. Other than the Dlask DAR 22 receiver, what are other available (high end) options here in Canada?
*It must have an integrated picatinny rail for my scope.

Also, if you can recommend parts better than KIDD then please suggest away. I have a custom .22 coming that will have a Lilja bull barrel, but that’s a nice bolt-action setup. I’m not too concerned with going Lilja, etc for this "plinker" setup. I chose the KIDD 16.5" Black Match Stainless barrel for plinking and hunting, etc, which is all I want this rifle for. 100 yds MAX.

Edit > price is not an issue with this rifle. I priced it out already with the Kidd accessories and DAR 22 receiver @ ~$1300 + tax, plus scope (another ~$1500-2K).

Thanks.

Just get the DAR22 and you will not regret it.

Some of these receivers don't come with the internal bolt and trigger group though.

Milarm and Bonnyville's Sylvestre Source For Sports are the registered Canadian Volquartsen dealers. They sell receivers both complete and receiver only.

None of these receivers come with a bolt or trigger group... they are purchased seperately. The Nordic type receivers
are not actually receivers, they are only receiver "covers" and house the receiver inside... most are designed for the Ruger factory receiver and will not work with aftermarket receivers.

Thanks for doing all that research cericksson!

I’m beginning to wonder if I should just try to get a Kidd receiver up here? I am doing a full Kidd build anyways, so why not have the complete setup. Does anybody here have any experience with these receivers?

I have owned two Kidd receivers, there are a very fine unit... only sold because I was offered a stupid amount for the builds... there are two Kidd distributors in Canada... Fab Sports and Jo Brooks Firearms.

Not entirely. You can for the VQ receivers you can opt for receiver only or buy the complete action and receiver pre-installed. Cost is obviously more

Sounds like what I have- I would suggest getting the DAR receiver with the integrated 30moa rail :) A very nice package when done. The 16" barrel would be the ideal length, mine is 18"

What stock is that? And did you get the scalloped bolt or the matte finish?

Scalloped bolt with the light spring set for target match ammo and the stock is a Tacticool with a custom alum spacer with a LOP of 14.5" (stock is 13.5"). Will work way past 100yards if you have the moa ;)

Can you post up a pic of your bolt? I’m torn between the black scalloped and the matte black!

Thanks. It doesn’t really help but that’s alright.
I think the classic matte black will be it.

Like this?

Do you mean "like this…" or "do you like this?"
Like that…yes. Do I like it - not particularly. But thanks for the pic! I think that matte black will be a pretty good look for my setup. Did you just go scalloped because it’s supposed to look good?

I had one of each, the scalloped silver and the smooth black, this one also has a silver 18" KIDD barrel and the silver looked better to me. KIDD parts can be hard to source in Canada. I also own a super grade. But this one I did myself and have more fun with it, just have some tweaking to do to keep up with the super grade.

hoyt,
I have ordered a complete Kidd "Supergrade Rifle" build. Thanks for the pics though.
