since i dont reload im stuck with prerolled ammo.
What you guys think of that Fusion brand ? and yes 180grain is what i got.
cant seem to find any pictures anywhere of how they mushroom.

Reposted in the proper place instead of hijacking my own thread in the hunting sporting arms section..not like it aint anyhow lol:D

I also have a 300wm and after 1 moose and 2 bison i can't say enough good things about the barnes tsx, i load my own but i know barnes has the vor tx line and i think federal has a line with the tsx loaded. 1 shoot kills, devastating effects.

I haven't used it in 300wm but in 2506 it sucks. Separated jacket and core every time in water sawdust and wet newspapers. Would still be fine for whitetail deer but I wanted more for bear. I'd suggest spend a lil more and get nosler partitions. I believe its in the vitol shock line

Took out an elk at 200 or so yards , hit a rib going in.
Blew out heart , no exit wound.
Just wondering cause normaly hunt moose
They are a little tougher , dont want expand to soon .
Thats why i wonder

Fusions are built for very rapid expansion. They would not be my first choice for anything bigger then deer.

I have shot deer with them and the performance was good (if you consider massive exit wounds good) from a .308

Shot a deer with a 180gr out of a 300wsm at about 30 yards and the Fusion acted like a FMJ bullet.
I don't care for them at all a higher velocity.

well that's all i have with me...but I'm not hunting moose this year.
I'm thinking it was ging so fast at 30 yards there was no time for it to expand ?
might have to pick up some trusty federal blue for moose , just to be safe.
There's no joy in wounding what i hunt

Anyone else try the stuff ?

Here's my test of the 150gr .270 Win. Fusion. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TpgV89Rm_jA
Harvested a whitetail two years ago with the same round, worked perfectly.
It is designed and marketed as a deer bullet, at this I think it excels.
If your game is something larger / tougher, then a different bullet may be in order.

I recovered one from a whitetail and it looked really opened up. I mean compared to a lot of others I have found it was wide open.

Hell on whitetails. Liked it as a deer load. Opens up real fast. Like the others have said, maybe asking too much on bigger game.

Hornady SST is a great blend of both worlds.
