Shot My 3rd and Last Deer for the Year on the Weekend

Well, you had the neck shot work for you this time, but it IS a low percentage shot.
Congrats on filling your freezer, but I would not recommend a neck shot at anything over about 50 yards.
Even then, you may want to be ready for a quick follow-up shot.

It's funny you know, no matter what kill shot you make, someone has to complain about it. It's either wrong placement, too far, too close, too big a bullet, too small a bullet, wrong bullet type, too big a gun, too small a gun, not enough range time, too much range time, bullet too fast, bullet too slow, blah, blah, blah. I'm fed up with it. Like I said, "3 shots fired this year, 3 deer dead!" Get a grip!

lol so true

good job on going 3 for 3 and thanks for sharing the pics

Last year I shot all 3 of my deer in the neck.

Well, I was remembering back to a previous post and was curious about your other deer.I am seeing a problem , maybe others will to.

All done shooting whitetail for this year. Had enough of the boiler room shots and ruining meat on the first two. So this time I gave it to her in the neck from about 100 yards using a .30-06 with 168 gr silver tips. She dropped right away like a sack of potatoes.

That was 10-30-2012

Today I shot my 3rd and final deer for the season. All 3 of my deer where shot in the boiler room using .270 Winchester and my own hand loaded ammo. I used 56.0 gr of H-4350 with 130 gr Nosler Ballistic Tips. My gun is Remington 700 SPS DM using a Redfield 3-9x50 scope.

That was 10-06-2012

I wonder what is happening? ;)

I do detect a small foul odor.

Ooooooo busted.

....... I guess that the Internet for ya.

I remember when I first started hunting and would get a general and the two sup doe tags. However I soon realized, as much as I love deer meat 3 of em was more meat than needed. Now I just get one general and put my effort hunting hard for a buck.

If you want to save as much front shoulder meat from the blood scab as possible aim low and just behind the front leg. Lowers the meat loss and guess what. That's where the heart is.

Good job still with the neck shot. It's an effective quick kill.

Really the way you posted you kinds seam more like a young killer than a respectful hunter and I think that's what nicked a few people. Just something to think about in the future.

Hoooo boy, busted big time.
Trolling again, Bitumen???

You should try and remember your lies so you don't get caught so easily.

Then tries to defend his position.

Well, some riff-raff on here too, I guess. :)

Again if you read his posts, he says he gives the ribs to the coyotes, but doesn't like to waste meat had enough of the boiler room shots .;)

That will certainly cause a fair amount of bloodshot meat!!
Hole should have been at least 25cm farther back!
Eagleye.

That deer went 20 yards and then went down. When I walked up to it, it was dead. Why is there always someone to complain about a person's shot; especially when it is a kill shot?

WOW...chill out.

Eagleye commented on the fact that the shot placement, where it is, will cause lots of bloodshot meat (as you have already attested to).

He merely stated that if the shot was behind the shoulder, you would have less meat damage.

I see no complaint in his post whatsoever.

I think you need to start reading these posts for what they are, and do away with the F.U. attitude if/when someone offers constructive criticism.

That aside......nice deer. Cant wait to bag a WT Buck this year to complete the Trifecta myself.
