Reducing Trgger Pull in a Glock 17 Gen 3

Agreed, you cannot put lighter (aftermarket) versions of the striker spring or the striker safety block spring or the trigger return spring in and still stay in Production Division (not that there's anything wrong with Standard!).

One thing you can try, however, is the NY1 trigger spring in combination with the minus connector. It probably won't lighten the pull any, but many people like very positive reset afforded by this combo. Play around with it, see what you like. You've got to try the pieces in your particular pistol: I've seen much more variation in trigger pull weight than I would have expected in supposedly identical Glocks. After doing the 25 cent trigger job, simply dropping the minus connector in mine made it uncomfortably light, in my opinion (and my primary pistol is a 1911).

I'm using a Glock minus(-) connector and a NY1 spring on my gen3 G17. I find the combo makes the initial take-up less spongy and the reset crisper than the factory set-up. If there is a difference in the trigger weight.... I can't tell.
I got my connector off the EE and the NY1 spring from Target Sports.

Trigger Pull Results

G17 with Glock "minus" connector:
Average pull force measured at trigger tip - 3.5 lbs.
Average pull force measured at trigger center - 4.875 lbs.

(Pull force for G34 with Zev Tech race connector and titanium striker were very similar, but the let-off was much crisper)

Pull force for M&P 9mm with Apex sear and stock springs - measured at center of trigger - 3.2 lbs!

Put the NY1 trigger in and shoot it for a few months, then go back to the 5.5lb trigger and it will seem quite light and manageable.

I agree. The NY1 spring on its own will make your trigger heavier...but will feel crisper IMO. To bring it back to ~5.5lbs you need to combo it with the (-) connector or similar.

Given you mentioned an M&P here are some pull weights for my M&P's:

M&P FS .40cal Stock 6.5#

M&P FS 9MM Pro Springs, Sear, Striker Block with an Apex Duty Trigger Spring 5.25#

M&P Pro 9MM Apex Competition Kit (Sear, Springs, Striker Block) 2.75# Sweet Trigger, faster reset.

M&P Pro .40 cal Apex FSS Trigger 4.75# Virtually no pre-travel, very crisp break, very fast reset - faser than the Competition sear

I intend to use the 40 FS in IPSC Production, the 40 Pro in IPSC Standard, Steel and IDPA ESP Division and the Pro 9MM in IDPA SSP Division. The 9MM FS is my gun I use for classes and practice nights.

The lighter trigger pull certainly helps on the longer shots or shooting B Zone Plates at distance.

I have a G17 with the Glock 3.5 connector. It passed both level 3 matches I shot this year. One guy measured it at the trigger tip and it just barely passed. The other guy measured it at the center of the trigger and it passed no problem. The minimum for production class is a 5 pound trigger.

If I may ask what is it about the stock trigger that doesn't work well for you? The weight? Or the 'mushiness' and overtravel??
