Excellent cartridge in a good, rugged rifle.
A couple of my Hawkeyes were a bit rough around the edges, but nothing a fella couldn't remedy with a bit of tinkering...

Short answer: Yes

Long answer: Why yes my duck and goose hunting friend. I think this would be a very good rifle and i would love to own own. Might limit a chap to 300 or so yards but i would guess that most hunters, including 99% hunters on here, would like to keep their shots under that distance. If you can get one, do it! If you don't like it, sell it to me on the cheap. :D
 
Yup I would. I like mine, shoots about 1.25' at 100yds with Barnes 225gr TSX over RL15. Pretty rugged rifle. I put mine in a McMillan stock but haven't bedded it yet. I believe it was a limited run of Hawkeyes in 35 Whelen, but if you ask around you should be able to find one.
