I thought I would share a few photos of my reds, it was a nice day and decided to get them out.

1941 Tula SVT40, this is a recent purchase and I do enjoy shooting this one. I am going to leave it as is, but need a original sling to finish it off.

1950 Tula SKS, I have the original stock still covered in cosmo. I liked the look of the laminate better, so after a treatment of tung oil here it is.

1943 Izhevsk mosin nagant 91/30

This stock was damaged during shipping. ( bolt was left loose in box to bounce around and dig/knock off varnish)
So, I decided to strip it and fix up the dings. It has 3 coats of iodine/rubbing alcohol combo, 4 coats of RIT dye/rubbing alcohol (3:1 Red/yellow) combo. Followed up by 5 coats of BLO.....it looks very nice and is close to original color.

Enjoy! Thanks for looking, feel free to post pics of your own reds.

Love that SVT! Being a 1941, it has almost undoubtedly seen some tough combat. The Mosin looks great too. The reddish finish on mine is starting to flake off badly, I really think I'll do something similar to yours once its bad enough...

I like my laminate stocks to have the original finish. Not really digging it. I like my untouched laminate finish better. The SVT and Mosin look great though.

I am seriously thinking about getting either another Russian SKS or a SVT40. I have 3 SKS now so I am leaning towards getting an SVT, those are beautiful Rifles you have there.

I love the look of your refinished 91/30. I have a force matched 91/30 with a stock that was obviously banged around a TON. I'm not particularly attached to the history of the rifle, so I'm thinking of refinishing mine as well, while trying to leave any cartouches untouched.

Strato50: Go for the SVT, they're an awesome firearm.
