Schutz & Larssen

I just found one on a Danish site. Basic D97 in .30-06 is +$3600. Pretty steep...

Allowing for inflation that is pretty well in line with what they were selling for 40 years ago ; about twice the cost of a Weatherby Mark V or 4 times the cost of a Winchester Model 70.

I own Schultx & Larsen rifles in the following calibers; .22-250, .264 Win Mag, 7X61 S&H, 7mm Rem Mag, .308 Norma Mag, .338 Win Mag, & .358 Norma Mag. All are original & not f**ked with. All will shoot 3 shots into 1/2" or less at 100 yds with quality ammo. Most will do it with old Norma factory ammo! They are my go to hunting rifles. I also used to own a model 54J in .378 Weatherby (these are scarce - only about 330 ever sold) but I let it go in a moment of stupidity!

I used to have an extensive collection of the old Sako rifles, including the Safarie Grades & other rarer ones like a Sako factory chambered .458 Win Mag in an L61R. I love the old Sakos, but gradually sold them off to finance my Schult & Larsen collection.

Schultz & Larsen are the highest quality factory rifle I have ever seen. And Yes I have owned Steyrs, Sauers, & other high quality European guns. The new ones may be pricey, but many of you are spending that much & more on custom builds.

In the mid 1960s Schultz & Larsen in 308 Norma and 7&61 Sharp & Hart calibre sold for under $170. I was behind the counter in a small sporting goods store and we sold quite a few of them. A plain Model 70 Winchester was about 155-160.
A Husqvarna sold for 130-145 and a Winchester Model 94, right after the 1964 change, sold for $75.

I own 3 S&L's model 68DL---308 Norms,7x61 and 6mm Rem---built by S&L for me with 26" barrels and oil finished stocks--at the same time/same order I ordered the same in 358 for an Americain officer---should have kept it !!--I imagine that 358 is still slayig critters in Colorado. Bent Barrel

All you S&L owners and fans should send pics and a little written word to Jørgen Christensen who runs the Schultz & Larsen Club website. He is a very kind & knowledgeable guy and wishes to collect testimony on S&L rifles all over the world.
And, of course, he is from the mother land...

Here is the reply from Schultz&larssen after I e-maild asking if they have a distributor in Canada or have plans too.

Hi Niel,

we do not have a distributor in Canada, but have many inqueries from Canada.

Our problem is that shipping since 9/11, has become almost impossible in small quanteties, and we are a small compagny.

95 % of our rifles are sold in Scandinavia.

We hope to be represented in Canada within a few years.

Maybe with a little luck Tony and Anthony from Trade Ex would jump on this opportunity?

Soooooo, jcbruno, did you lose yer mojo's since selling the Scultz $ LarSen?

How many of you who would like one would actually pony up the +$3500 for one?

For a new one or one of todays production efforts? Definately a little more than I'm willing to spend but there are quite a few first class quality examples of previous production runs that can be had for a 'reasonable' cash outlay.;)That's more inline with my wants:).

I suspect you speak for the vast majority of S&L fans.

I've had three, 7x61S&H, 7mmRem. Mag. and 308NM, still have two, sold the 7mm Rem, and have never found even the slightest fault with either:D. Even the used ones around in good shape command a pretty good price and with other shooting toys I still seem to accumulate;) and need, that'll have to do for my source of acquisition. That being said, if I should happen to have a favourable outcome in a 649 draw;) the whole picture changes and I have a quick 'three priority' list to deal with that state of affairs.
  • Handgun hunt for Moose in Alaska
  • A NEW Schultz & Larsen rifle
  • A Harley
