Matched sets of rifles...

I have Remington 700 Classics in 222 Rem, 6.5x55, 7x57, 300 Savage & 8x57JS.
I have Vanguards in 270 Win, 30-06, 300WSM, 300 Win Mag & 338 Win Mag.
I have 2 M94 Winchesters, a 30-30 & a 38-55.
I guess we lean to stuff that appeals to us.

I only have one Classic. 300 H&H.
I'd like to find a 250-3000.

That Alaskan just made me drool ;) Nice rifle in a very effective chambering for anything in Canada and most other places too :) One question...what's it weigh with scope & mounts?

Good luck on the hunt!

Ok, according to luggage scale, my Alaskan .338 as pictured shows 8.62 lb's which is much lighter than Winchester brochure claims with out scope and mounts!

CN - folks are into mcswirly patterns, but imo those simple colours, especially the brown, are the shiz.

Thanks! I saw those when they came out, but I'm not interested in that caliber.

I'm afraid I'm not very keen on the Zastava's either.

I really like CZ's, they just don't cater much to us lefties.

i ve tried for years to get them into the lefty market but it didnt work. they made just a special run for the US market.
but for smaller caliber i dont see the hype on CZ they re made for the longer and bigger calibers and so they re on the heavy side.

tell me more what you dont like on the Zastava?

all the best.

I went for pre 64's done up by Al Beisen in Spokane, .300 & .375 H&H. You'd only get them from my cold hands!!

Talk about classy! Did he just re-stock them? Was this done a very long time ago? And an indiscreet question, what does a pair like that set a person back? Next thing you know you'll be like, "Oh, and I also have a nice Gary Goudy custom G33/40 kicking around..." :)

How is this for matching set.

Sako 75 SS in 30-06, 7 STW, 338 Win Mag.
Sako 75 Finnlight in 30-06, 7 Rem Mag and 300 Win Mag.
Sako 85 Finnlight in 30-06.

Not nice like real matching pairs but those are working guns.

And "real matching pairs" aren't working guns?

For matching rifles I HAVE owned at the same time a 700 in 30-06 and in 223.

Presently I have a Tikka T3 Lite in 338 Federal and T3 Varmint in 243 Win

Not as spectaculat as some, but it works for me.

Yeah, I've done everything but write to the head of the company.

I WAS interested in the Zastava's when I first heard of them, but after contacting several dealers and gunsmiths in the States that dealt with them, they informed me that their quality isn't very good.

I personally haven't handled one to give an unbiased opinion though.

If you have one, pictures and a review would be greatly appreciated.

You heard wrong. Zastava has been around and building weapons since 1853. They are well built, solid rifles. They have been around for a very long time. For example, the Interarms Mark X was a rebadged Zastava M98. It was around over +30 years ago. I believe they are using the same tooling as FN used for the FN M98.

You won't go wrong with the M98

They were complete jobs, wood & metal, in about '89. The one Gary did is every bit as nice but in 7mm. All are really too nice to take in the field for rough work, so get reserved for more "gentlemanly" hunting, but they do get hunted. Hell, I've even hunted with an H&H in .375, .....there's no pure "safe queens".
