LMT, DD, Bush, Core-15 or RRA AR

I couldn't agree more!

As much as I don't buy into the tier business, DD and LMT are such nice guns that come with excellent fit and finish I couldn't pass on them. If you are looking at a $1200 NEA/RRA/Core, it just makes sense to invest a few hundred more into an obviously superior firearm that has a lot of street cred and will most likely outlast a lower cost gun (plus they have way more features). If you are going to pick an entry level AR just go with a Norc, if you out grow it you can flip it and recoup most of your initial investment. I started with a Norc and spent the difference in money from a core/NEA on ammo and pmags. IMO norc is outshined easily by the quality of LMT and DD, I find that the ~$1k Entry AR's here don't offer enough to outweigh the Norcs low price.

umm not really true, i use to be a big bushy fan, but the crap they put out in the 1990,s was so bad they LEO,s were dumping them as fast as they could find shipping boxs.
i did not see many of any improvments before FG took them over. Other then no more funny color uppers and lowers.

1990 to 2012.. That's almost 20 years ago.
If you look up windham weaponry on the Internet, you will see alot of good reviews and making reference to the old bushmaster.

I personally have handled one... And I was impressed by the
Finish and quality.
 
I started out with a norc and it's a great little plinker but I recently purchased a DD M4 V5 in 300 blackout and the quality difference is incredible. The DD is an amazing piece of kit. The fit and finish is awesome. And it's supper fun to shoot. I topped it off with an Aimpoint micro H1 on the DD spacer mount and möbius flip up back up sights. I would recommend DD all the way. Having said that, the only other AR I have actually tried out was a KAC. It was a great gun but not worth the 3500 dollar price tag to me.
 
I think for me when I purchase a firearm it's because I want that gun, (ie) HK, Colt or DD. The value of the CORE product is excellent for what most "range" shooters want/need. The AA piston has very good reviews and there customer service is reported as excellent as well. We won't argue the "pros" "cons" of the DI vs piston,however if your shooting is at the range, cleaning is alot less between trips.
 
I have a core 15 ( piston model ) and have no complaints, run's perfect and fit and finish is great. I would highly recommend them. I also agree with others the DD M4V5 is a sweet deal.
 
What is the census on building a first AR for paper shooting? I'm working on the parts/purchase list for one, mostly 'value' parts like Spike's, DPMS, a little RRA, and some DD stuff. I've heard that something like this will have fitment issues. What does that mean? Parts, straight up won't fit together? Or I just have to keep working the moving parts for half an hour to smooth things out?

I'm also looking a the CMMG .22lr conversion kit: Does it kill barrels fast? Is it worth getting a dedicated .22lr upper instead?
