Hunting on the edge of a standing corn field....

Fifth day into our season & I have only seen one monster body (not even a head) out of shooting range.....
I am on the edge of a standing corn field & can only see down a little of each side of the ditch & a small area in the back of my stand....
I keep hoping that the farmer will cut the corn, however I have no idea when this will happen.
Can anyone give me some pointers? Should I move into the woods behind my stand, or stick it out on the edge of the field?

Very frustrating situation. Get a bit of elevation if you can, say maybe a tree stand or up on a granary or outbuilding. Had the same problem hunting around large standing sunflower fields a few times as it's often combined late. Could see deer moving back and forth down the rows of sunflower. They were bedded and living in the stuff day and night.
 
My try one of those grunt call things and bring him to you. Ruts about here and I've surprised myself twice now with the results.

Why don't you try and walk (still hunt) the corn edge, first and last hour of legal shooting time...it can be extremely productive
 
Well, I just about stepped on a turkey on the way to my stand last night & when the turkey flew up, it spooked a deer in the corn. I only got a look at it's big bum before it disappeared into the corn...... Oh well, at least I saw something. As it was just beginning to get dark 2 does and a fawn came out to my apples behind my stand, but none of them would eat them.....????? The apples were disappearing in the beginning, but I was amazed to see that not one of the 3 even took a bite. They smelled them, but nope.... kept moving on.... Now what?
Very strange.
