Barrel came loose during shooting

The barrel can only be torqued into the extension to the point that the gas port is aligned. It can't be turned in tighter, without the gas port getting out of index.
The hole for the index pin could be driled slightly into the barrel; when a pin is tapped in, it could act to lock the barrel to keep it indexed.
I suspect that it is unlikely that the barrel will turn in to original index with adequate torque, given that it worked loose in the first place. A very thin steel shim/breeching washer might create enough torque with the gas port indexed. Is there a high temp. thread locker?
Seeing as this is a new barrel assembly, it would probably be best to contact the supplier/manufacturer.

Send it back to the manufacturer, and name the company, whats the big deal regardless..........Man this is tiresome, if its a NEA, who cares faster to get to the bottom of it the better.

Silly question here, how can the barrel come loose if the gas tube and block are attached to the barrel? Would that not stop the barrel from rotating in the barrel extension?
P.S I never knew there was a barrel extension, I thought the barrel was one solid assembly.

Looks like someone missed the product recall alert in the SFRC forum when a few S&J barrels ran into this issue. I believe Ryan indicated that one or two went out the door as cash sales and he wasn't able to track them down...

I believe it was the 16.5" barrels we're talking about here, which, is consistent with the photo.

I do know however that S&J was definitely standing behind his product and making things right.

Also, having owned both NEA and S&J barrles, I, along with everyone else, should know from the photo it's not an NEA barrel. None of the NEA barrels are Gov't profile....

Just noticed a malfunction on my AR that I had never even heard of...

The barrel unscrewed itself from the barrel extension. It wasn't unscrewing because the gas tube wouldnt allow it to turn any more, but it was unlocked.

How do I fix that? Red loctite is certainly useless, considering the temperatures the chamber reaches.
Unpon repair, if possible, chamber will be spec'ed with gauges I have on hand.

EDIT: I know you guys are really dead set on bashing NEA, but it isn't one, sorry

If it is a gas nitrided barrel which was nitrided as a unit with the barrel extention installed, this is an industry known issue, as the 2 differing metal alloys used in the barrel and extention expand and contract at different rates and will no longer be tight when the treatment is completed.

If its one of ours , just contact as and we will fix or exchange the product, its not an issue.

As stated but a few people hear, it can happen but eather over tighnening and loosening the flashiders, or a number of things.
But eaitherway if its one of our products, send it back and we will take car of it.
If needed, ship you complet upper and will with testfire it.
OP if you can pm or email us if its one of ours and we can take care of it for you.

I had an S&J barrel that did the same thing after 200 rds.. i took it back to the store (Lanz) and they exchanged it right away.. OP's barrel kinda looks like an S&J.. but i'm not an expert, so im not sure.
