The New Generation ?

Our group went to our hunting camp for our regular hunt in the Peace River Country. Our area borders the green zone, and we have permission from several land owners in the agricultural area. One of the spot we have permission is at the South end of a small one mile long "Dead End" public County road.

One morning, couple of us were going to hunt there, and noticed a truck angle parked on this road...basically blocking access. There was a sign taped on the tailgate, which read " Hunt in progress - Do not disturb"...?!?!

So we decided to wait on that one, as this gonad has no right to block access to a public county road. Well these no minds were obviously close, as 2 young hunters (early 20s) showed up shortly after. In a very diplomatic fashion, they were politely told to get their nice little truck off the road, as we were heading South to hunt. In a somewhat rude and defiant tone, one stated that they could do that, and us driving by were "disturbing their hunt"....hmmmm....

In a less diplomatetic fashion, they were told to get the f*** out of there, and that the police will be contacted (we already scored the plate number). They seemed to understand that, and they left spraying gravel, and we never saw them again.

Anyone ever been involved in a similar situation, in which some think or believe they can do everything they want?

they meander in to the bank, pizza place or whatever.

But why is this labelled "The New Generation?". Typically I see this attitude far more in the older folks who think they are entitled to some area because they have "hunted there for years!!". Now I wouldn't call myself older or younger, more middle age but I've got 25 years of hunting behind me and this year it was outfitters in our area that blocked road access for us. And they did it before to us as well. So 2nd offence. One actually grabbed a log to start a fight with when we asked them to move, lucky his older brother was able to contain him. This was because they had had it with our being in the area for 4 years and they didn't want us there anymore as I was told, they'd been there 10 years!!

Anyway, end of this, I believe you have unfairly labelled here, and in most cases, this is more an older person occurrence than the "New Generation". Most of the youth I encounter are very happy to listen and learn. Your event smacks of retards, but I wouldn't call that typical.

Unfortunately with the oil boom, lots of trash invaded the Peace Country. I can remember not too long ago being invited into a farmer's place for dinner or drinks just while stopping by to ask for permission. Nowadays just trying to get permission to hunt is getting tough! Used to hardly see a hunter in some of that country now it's overrun. I miss the old days!
