Girsan pics, for those who are interested.

From what I've heard from my friend from Texas (where those pistols were on the market a while back till Beretta forced the import to stop) they are every bit as good as Beretta is.
However it's more like Beretta 92F - not FS from what I can understand.

92FS is the 92F modified to meet demand of consumers, as many of them have a misconception that on the model F the slides break and hit shooters in the head.
That's the Beretta's way of avoiding liability problems, negligence lawsuits, and so on.

Thanx Nestor.

Still kinda confused how this pertains to the Girsan.......:(

I don't think that You should be concerned - as long as You are using standard pressure ammo - everything should be just fine.
I would check the manual for information regarding ammo specifications though.
After 92 was upgraded to FS Beretta found that the slides failures with model F were caused by the combination of bad metallurgy and high pressure ammo.
So, after all the whole upgrade wasn't really all that necessary, since they changed the materials for the slide as well.
That is at least what I can remember from the past.
Bottom line - Girsan pistol should be a good choice.

The trigger is OK. Breaks may not as light as a CZ Shadow. This one ok Smooth. For that price I think it is a good deal. Oh yes the box and those cleaning stuff it comes with are really crappy. But it comes with two Mecar M9 mag made in Italy. Only these two mag already close to may be $100., l guess. So just go buy it if you are interest. I will probably test fire this one next weekend. But Inever fire a Beretta so I can't compare.

There was an issue with the first batch of M9 pistols that the US received, the slide on a few pistols snapped. This caused some severe injuries. The slides were redesigned to prevent the rear half from detaching. The Girsan pistols, being license built versions of the Beretta, and being service military service pistols should incorporate these design changes.

The Girsan 16 pistol is an early to mid 90s Beretta clone model, a 92f as oppossed to the newer 92fs.
It was (and still is) made for the Turkish Military, but never approved by Beretta for civilian commercial export.
Those two companies (Beretta and MKEK)....are not in friendly relations as You can imagine.

When I first heard of these pistols, I called a friend at a gun store and inquired about them. He basically told me it was a functional pistol and the difference in price between a Beretta and a Girsan was due to fit and finish. Looking at these pictures of the Girsan, I think he undersold them, it looks great.

Stupid question to the OP, I'm on the Girsan site right now and can't find the model this post is refering to (www.girsan.com)
If you click the all model tab - None of the 92's (first line) seams to have a rail.

So what model do we have here? (The Regard MC seams to be the closest)

Thanks.
