I guess it's time to post pics

Got a Sig P226 Enhanced Elite a few weeks ago.....was gonna up some pictures till I realized that many of you would say "nice pistol...it's just the beginning" or "welcome to the addiction"

So I decided to beat you guys to the punch....the HK arrived on Wednesday....and will be abused tomorrow..have 200 rounds and intend to use every last one.

The 226 has been awesome...love the trigger..even DA has an easily recognizable breaking point...if you're smooth it can almost feel like the SA break.

HK45...hmmm...trigger is gritty.."catchy"...the return can be slower than your finger moves...even if you are paying attention to move with it. That being said...have only dry-fired the HK.

and as a closing note......remember Nov 11

Nice first pistols...

Take the HK apart and give it a good cleaning. I know it is new, so what kind of a cleaning does it need? HKs have a gray anti-seize lube on the moving parts in the frame. Had the same "gritty" issue with ALL of my HKs. Clean off all of the factory lube, and lube it yourself with gun oil, or a bit of light grease. Helped out the trigger alot with removing most of the gritty feel, but shooting it will be the best remedy.

Have fun...

thanks for the advice !

did take it apart (field strip) and cleaned it thoroughly...like fanatical....still a crunchy trigger.

You just bought 2 excellent pistols... that's the way to do it. Don't buy cheap stuff then afterwards upgrade. Buy the good stuff first and you are all set-congrats.

Now feed them.

haha.....been a steady feed of snap caps all day

can't wait to work up through the 115gr, 124gr, 147gr 9mm......then hit the 45......I bet it's gonna feel different : )

Just got back from the range. Put 200 rounds through the Sig and 100 rounds through the HK. Tons of fun...I think I like how 124 grain felt in the 9mm and I grouped better with it than with the 115 grain or 147 grain. I was surprised that the slide dropped on the HK when putting a fresh magazine in, the Sig stayed locked back. I shot them at 10 and 15 yards, the range is only 17 yards so not much choice. My groups aren't worth showing, not horrible, but nothing to be proud of. I'm sure things will improve as I get more familiar with the gear and get some more time behind the trigger(s). Both pistols felt great, but I like the Sigs trigger much better than the HK.

Now I get to clean them ;)

Sig's SRT trigger is hard to beat... HK45 is supposed to be kick-ass but I haven't experienced it yet. I love my 220 too much to take the plunge.

It is a fantastic pistol....having never shot a .45 before I was apprehensive about the recoil. I've gotta say, while there's a definite push, I found it easier to manage than the 115 grain 9mm which was quite snappy. The HK just pushed back, but very little muzzle rise. Was easy to get back on target.

The only thing I don't like is the DA pull...maybe it'll smooth out in a few thousand pulls, but I've worked it with snap caps and live ammunition at least 400 times and its not gotten any better.

It's still a keeper : )

edit: really want to try a P220...gonna have to make that happen one day

I love my 220, great balance and ergonomics. HK45 has a recoil reduction system so it really calms down the recoil. I think the only drawback to the HK series of pistols is the below average double action trigger... Maybe there is a kit to improve it? I am sure some HK experts will weigh in.

I agree with the 115g 9mm ammo being snappy. I shot the tamest 9mm ammo the other day, 147g flat point American Eagle. Shot extremely well with it, made nice clean holes in the target too.

At this point I think it's up to me to learn the trigger as best I can. If it's still an issue after a few thousand rounds maybe I'll consider having it worked on, but I need to see how much better I can get on it first. Only real issue is watching the front sight vibrating as I pull through the DA. If it had a noticeable break like the Sig DA it'd be infinitely easier as you can ease up for a millisecond and pull like a SA...so much more stable. Maybe I need to find another .45 to try, just to get a better reference for recoil, cause damn I was surprised how much I actually enjoyed the feel of the HK...just a nice solid push, really felt in control of it.

Shot the same 9mm 147g flat point Federal yesterday. I think I liked the 124g better, but I only had 50 rounds of it to try. 147g was definitely nicer than 115g. Still have another 200 rounds of 115g to put out of their misery, then I'll be switching to 124g /147g I think.

Fun as hell figuring this all out :D

Base 220 has a better double action and single action trigger than my HK USP, but that's what Sig is known for. 220 is a "feed everything/can't stop it" workhorse. I was considering the HK45 as my next purchase but the price and my German Sig 220 makes it unnecessary.
