Colt 2013 Lineup

So they take the same gun and added a few different colors?

LOL, when was the last "major" AR15 major technology breakthrough? The forward assist that nobody uses? LOL.

Given the number of Colt rifles that cross the border, and the prices charged for them it's kind of hard to get enthusiastic about them. It's easier, and in some cases cheaper to get a KAC.

I liked the triangular handguards on the shorty. I thought the reaper camo was ridiculous.

I love that the US manufacturers have just started putting magpul on everything. Figure that's what everyone buying them will do any ways.

There must be mountains unloved M4 butt-stocks across America.

That mangling of the gas system of the AR-15 to fit a piston?

I'm usually not a fan of piston system based AR rifles either. All of mine are DI. That being said this is the only piston system that I've been interested in. I like what they have done, and considering they built uppers for Colt I would expect them to know how to make a top notch product.

You can get an ADCOR without the piston system and keep the free floated barrel and forward CH, just in DI.

Throwing another charging handle on an AR doesn't seem like all that amazing an innovation, either. JP Enterprises has one, too. The original works great, anyway.

IMO, the latest breakthroughs seems to revolve more around philosophy of use than actual technology, since it seems like more civilians are interested in and have access to training. Self-loading rifle technology has more-or-less remained the same for the past half-century.

Who is distributor for Colt in Canada? Maybe OST can work their magic...
Colt doesn't do distributors. They only sell to a very short list of private companies who in turn do the distribution to vendors in the US. It's comes off as being kind of lazy and showing the signs of caring more about their military contracts than commercial sales (the latter of which is probably fair in their case). There's really no way to get cheap Colt's into Canada unless you import it yourself.

The charging handle on the side (which all the new 21st century rifles now have -Full circle 1944 again-) allows you to lock the action open with one hand while keeping your firearm pointed down range. That's pretty nice. It's also easier to charge while prone or with larger optics. It's non reciprocating. The only disadvantage is you can't mount anything on that side. But you can take this off if you don't like it. You still have the regular charging handle at the back as well. Which gives you a redundancy feature in case of failure.

The JP one is built into the receiver. I prefer the ADCOR solution to this.

The main breakthrough with this is the hybrid piston system. It maintains the DI advantage of a gas tube off the barrel so you don't have harmonic issues which ruin accuracy. The piston is built into the upper free float hand guard. Weight and balance is said to be pretty much the same as a normal DI rifle (unlike many piston systems out there). Reliability from the HP white tests was 6000 rounds no failures or stoppages. Accuracy with the Green mountain barrel 14.5" m4 profile CL barrel and match ammo on the same rifle after the reliability testing (cleaned and cooled) was 3 rounds .88 moa at 100 yards.

AK reliability, AR precision and modularity. The AR just avoided becoming obsolete.

On Tuesday I'll know if it's hype or the real deal. :)

I never claimed throwing a forward CH was a remarkable innovation, I simply stated you can get an ADCOR with all the features it has without the piston system. My reccomendation for the most recent remarkable improvement would probably have to be rail technology and how it is incorporated and used nowadays as was stated earlier.

Hmm, that 6720LE-CAR is interesting. Wonder if that flash hider is the same design as the original CAR15 Commando? Does anyone know if it uses the baffled/expansion chambered internals of the CAR15 Commando FH? Also, it's strange that the reported flash hider is 5.5" long and the barrel is 11.5". That'd translate to a 17" barrel... or an extra inch longer than required by US law for a SBR and 0.75" longer for the flash hider than the original 4.25". Very odd.
