ok so i bought a rem 700 sps varmit in .308 about 2 years ago and every once and awhle when i'm reloading i get a round that just doesn't fit. Meaning the action will slide closed but i can lock the bolt into place. Now i've taken the rounds home and messured all the dimentions with the calipers and every part of the round that won't fit is within factory load specs. has anyone incountered somthign like this. Also is it likely a problem with the rounds themelves or the cambering in the rifle. One last thing i have never shot factory loaded ammo out of this rifle.

any feed back would be helpful.

Sometimes it's a simple as over crimping, it causes the shoulder to bulge just enough that the round won't chamber. Try a box of factory loads, any brand and see if they will all chamber, then measure your handloads against those!

now let me also say this out of the 200 or so rounds i'm loaded and shot this has happened maybe 3 times. also all of the brass has only been shot twice at the most and yes this has happened with virgin brass once aswell

Hot loads + partial or neck resizing = less shots before full lenght resizing is needed. Try FL resizing and it should cure it, if not, then, you have another issue. Too much taper crimp (bumped shoulder) and thick neck are other possible causes.

If it is only happening on a few cases chances are the brass is just springing back a little more after you have resized it. Make sure if you are FL resizing that the press handle over cams once the shell holder touches the bottom of the die. Not need to crimp .308.
