Colt 2013 Lineup

^see previous post. Irunguns.ca (site sponsor) great to deal with...many different 6920's available at fantastic prices.

Transfer was approved last week and the rifle is in the mail. I get mine this week and will post up when I get it.

I would say the advent of rail-based modularity is probably the last major leap forward. It seems obvious now...but flat top uppers and railed handguards are really not that old, and they represent a major shift in terms of how effective the AR can be today.

Not that old? Canada switched to a flat top weaver rail around '91 and the KAC RIS is quickly aproaching the 20 year mark.

I do agree that they're the last major developments though, the main thing that has kept the platform relevant to this day.

On a fifty-year-old platform. It's not really that far back that everything went to modularity and rails.

Hmm, that 6720LE-CAR is interesting. Wonder if that flash hider is the same design as the original CAR15 Commando? Does anyone know if it uses the baffled/expansion chambered internals of the CAR15 Commando FH? Also, it's strange that the reported flash hider is 5.5" long and the barrel is 11.5". That'd translate to a 17" barrel... or an extra inch longer than required by US law for a SBR and 0.75" longer for the flash hider than the original 4.25". Very odd.

I just want the lower for the roll marks.

The issue that has kept the AR15 FOW relevant and in use is it's extremely high hit probability, so far there hasn't been anything developed that has a significantly higher hit probability. In fact it's considered unlikely that anything will be developed that has a higher hit probability. When you have a great big army to equip, and the old technology is cheaper, requires little to no further development and delivers the hits on target, you stick with it. Until something changes in the world of ammunition that makes guns cheaper, easier to shoot, or radically more deadly, I'll bet the AR is it.

Roller delayed rifles usually have nothing hanging off of the barrel and should also have excellent accuracy.

I would be more excited to see Colt introduce a mid-length gas system than an extra-long flash suppressor or a goofy paint job.

Also, why M4 feed ramps on a 20" rifle?

Thanks to the Op for the link. I have been looking for a new flat top 20 inch gov profile Colt upper for my service rifle shoots, now I'll just have to buy the whole enchilada, that AR15 A4 they showed on the vid.

The feed ramps on the AR15A4 will undoubtedly be because Colt Defense are masters of using up excess parts. They probably haven't ordered any flat top uppers without M4 cuts in a decade. Why bother going backwards now? It'd just add cost and the M4 cuts aren't going to hurt reliability.
