well i was bored today so i pulled my 260 blr lightning to look at her insides. must say thats some intresting engrineering, curved rack and pinion that was fun to put back together..

Are all blr's of the same idea/design?

You gotta be stirring the pot.

Always was told those BLR rack and pinions should be hands off for mere mortals. Guess you just got the right stuff. I owned one for 16 years and it always worked super - cause I didn't take it apart. It wouldn't end up being such a pleasant afternoon's distraction for me if I dismantled a valued BLR. But whatever turns yer crank - er - I mean pinion.

That's just the kinda guy I is. If someone else can put it together so can I. Just stop look at it engage the brain and I've always been victorious. From what I noticed , only think holding the bolt closed on recoil other then tiny recoil lugs , is a tiny gear . That has mechanical advantage working not in its favour

Don't those guns have a rotating multi lug bolt? The lugs would hold the bolt closed on recoil.

Made a mistake in spelling . Ment small recoil lugs. I'll post pics tommorow of the complete tear down I did today. By the way who knows how the barrel is attached to the reciever looks almost like its shrunk fitted

here is some pics for you gun nutters to gaze at. ill attempt to number them so as you will be able to refer to them more clearly

Wow. I'm afraid if I did that to mine It would never shoot again lol. Out of curiosity, how dirty were the parts that you can't reach to clean while it's in one piece? And how many rounds do you figure you have fired through it?

send er to me.

ive never fired a round out of it yet however the insides in the bolt were starting to rust and gum. i would not recommenting dry firing possible to sear a small pin and releasing the firing pin out the back of the bolt. .
