As you can see in the pic, I've got a couple scratches on the barrel of my X-Bolt. Can someone recommend a product to touch it up with and a technique to do a good job? And what about the two little dents in the stock? Is it a major job to fix? If so I'll just leave it as is but I want to do something about the barell. Thanks.

Enjoy'em.
Keep the barrel oiled up.
You fix two and then get a couple more.
If they look new all the time, then perhaps they
ain't gitt'in used enough?

Sell the the gun at great loss and buy another at great cost. Repeat as required to keep that "as new look".

The other alternative is to ...... get over it and keep on using it.

If only the scratches and stock dents on my rifles were that minor.... as others have said ' don't sweat it'.
I think the stock dents could be lifted by putting a damp cloth over them and running an iron over.... carefully.

casey birch cold blueing has been good to me.
i was wondering how to get the white scratches/dents out of brownings high gloss. suggestions? is there a bufffing compound to polish the clear coat so i can apply an additional coat?

Birchwood Casey gun paste works well use the paste and not the liquid and the liquid works better if you redo the whole thing and the paste works well for scratchs I spoke with a gunsmith who spoke very highly of it as he uses it on his high end custom guns.

Thanks for the tips and advice. I took it out this morning and shot a whitetail with it and the scratches don't seem as noticeable lol. The sharpie is a good idea, easy enough even I could do it. I looked on Brownings website, they say its a blued barrel but it looks and feels painted. It feels kind of rough, not smooth like on my BLR.

I believe Birchwood Casey is the maker of a gun wax that I have used and it
works good. Beads the moisture. You can use it on the metal too.
I lather up the ole Schultz with this stuff as the poor thing has been to heck
and back. I sure wish it only had a couple minor dingalings like yours.

Ow, You wouldnt wanna see my Whelen then!

an the Remmy, it was brand fresh hardly had dust on it, I took a fall in Rocky country an the rifle copped it.. I even put a Dent in the barrel near where .270win is stamped, aswell as a dent on the turret cap oh an the dirty scratch on the bell of the loopy..... I almost cried.
that was 6-7 years ago as it was my first 'big game' rifle, now days ive warmed to the fact these rifles are for chasen critters through the bush, schit happens!

It does add character to a huntin rifle, an of course its not somethin we want but I wouldnt stress it too much mate

cheers
