Well, got my SU-16 back from Josef Dlask back today, and I couldn't be happier!

He removed my front site for me, and machined a spacer for the gap between the bump where the front site rested, and the crush washer. I thought that this was a really nice touch that gave it a finished look.

I also thought I'd try a UTG AK folding stock adapter that I found on Amazon for $18. It's sturdy and locks up tight, about the only thing they should have done is provide an easier way to move the pivot against the spring to make folding and unfolding it a little easier. I don't see myself folding my rifle very often, so I think it'll suit my needs. I did upgrade the cheesy castle nut that came with it with a Colt one.

Here's what it looks like folded (OAL just above 30"):

And here's what it looks like extended (OAL about 40"):

The stock adapter adds a little over an inch to the OAL, and the A2 flash hider about an inch. I just went with the A2 birdcage because I didn't want to add even more length, and just wanted a simple look. The work and parts came to about a hundred bucks.

I'm just waiting for my t-dot to come back from Bushnell warranty, then I can take it out to the range and sight it in. :)
Cheers.

Just messages dlask. Like there work/ cost! Any idea on a muzzle devise that would lessin the flash/ sound for our gun? I've been recommended linier muzzle breaks at all different price ranges.
Thanks!

If you use a linear type brake, it's going to throw the muzzle blast downrange and will lessen what you hear behind the muzzle. I have a YHM comp on my AR, and it's pretty loud...lol. Most brakes are a bit longer than the standard birdcage, and I didn't really want to add any more length to my rifle...that's why I just went with the A2. Maybe in the future I might be inspired to do something different.

Good luck! Josef seems like a great guy to deal with, and does good work. I'm lucky he's somewhat local to me.

So glad that I am not the only guy to get his su16 flash hidden ;)
Except unlike most I prefer the light weight option of the SEI Vortex.
Pings instead of booms and in low light situations. There is no big FLASH when I pull the trigger to ubsure my feild of view. Plus it also cus down on the flinch/blink between shots.

LOL...I did notice that the muzzle flash from my SU-16 was HUGE compared to my AR. I think this birdcage will help significantly with that.

Nice set-up.

What's the shortest LOP with the adapter on the stock?

Thanks! Don't know for sure how to measure LOP, so I took a picture with a tape instead...my guess is about 10.5" with the stock fully collapsed, and with the thicker Magpul buttpad installed.

I quite like the Vortex Strikefire on my AR, so instead of waiting for my Bushnell t-dot to come back from warranty, I just decided to buy another Strikefire from Dave's Surplus and installed it. Can't wait to shoot it. :)

Cheers.

LOP is from the front of the trigger to the rear of the butt stock or pad, LOP=Length of Pull. Looks like 13.25" with the adapter.

I see...thanks for explaining that. Just measured it again the way you explained it, and you're bang on at 13.25". With the adapter, I don't need to extend the stock at all...it feels just right fully collapsed.

Thanks, MG4201. :)

I decided to just get rid of that stock adapter. I don't really need a folding feature, and it actually added a lot more OAL than I thought...more than 2". I might use it on one of my 12G...maybe.

Thanks, Jay!

I had this rifle out at the range today, and what a huge difference! No more big ball of orange flame after every shot. Looks better, works better...I'm happy with it.
