FAMAE SG 542 7.62x51

I can't find any info on the accuracy record of these Famaes with the Chilean army or anyone else. The only others who made semi SG 542 type rifles (that I'm aware of) was a French outfit back in the 70's-1980's (in non threatening, non military calibers of course). Even if accuracy data on these was found, it'd be out of date (presumably due to better manufacturing techniques now compared to then).

So, does anyone know of any white-dinner/mess jacketed (see post 28 :)), ex, or current, Chilean army marksmen who can tell us of the type of accuracy we could expect from these rifles?

Do these use the same magazines as the swiss arms sapr?

Pretty sweet.
Wish I had the budget for another 308 semi. (Barely fit the one I have into my current budget).
What kind of mags does this thing take?
Proprietary?

I dated a Chilean girl in high school. Don't know how good a shooter she was, but she's a college professor these days.

Really? Because that's just unreasonable. Think about all the other relevant $hit you could do with $4000. Asinine is the best word I can think of to describe these prices. I suggest you look this word up and read the definition just so you can appreciate how F#%&ing ridiculous I think these prices are.

I'm with you. Idiots willing to pay almost anything are what drive the prices. $3-4000 for a Chilean made rifle, please, there's absolutely no justification for that. That's on par with an excellent quality sxs with select walnut, engraving ext., yet all you're getting is a mass produced stamped steel and plastic gun. Look at how much Vault charges for the RFB's and SU16's, just stupid compared to the US prices, and don't feed me the import duties crap, I've gone that route myself a few times and it's not costly. As with everything in Canada we pay more because people here are willing to, it's that simple.

I'm waiting until the price is finalized and some reviews are out before I consider spending that kind of money.

But hey if you want to blow 4 grand on rifle go for it.For Myself my next would be a Target RFB.

Where is this 4k number coming from? Price will be under 3k.

We're working hard to bring a new semi-auto NR .308 military rifle to the Canadian market -a market where the only option in that same class is an M14 clone at the moment. Would you prefer we not import this rifle at all? Or perhaps operate as a charity and give away at cost?

Pricing is set according to our costs set by the manufacturers. If we could make a profit and sell these for $500 we would, but thats simply not reality. We actually prefer to sell as low as possible, because the lower the price, the exponentially higher the unit sales. It does not make sense to overinflate pricing if your trying to make a profit and keep manufacturers happy by selling large unit counts.

Nobody is forced to purchase. If you don't think it is worth your money than don't buy it -its that simple.

Will that be after tax? And I would also like to thank you for always trying to get us new things :).

It's also a sad fact of life here in Kanada that our firearms laws have so badly warped the "free" market that some would gladly pay more for the chance at a non restricted black rifle (one that for the moment, you can sell freely and pass down to your folks--unlike all the reclassed prohibs that are out there).

It's like going back in time to pre-1992 (remember when AK's, HK's etc., were unrestricted?). If I could pay to go back in time to have such a (non restricted/non prohibited) firearm where I could go and lawfully use it without the myriad of (mostly stupid) restrictions bureaucrats have placed on it/me, I'd certainly do it if I can afford it (and I sure hope to be able to pick one of these up).

Fudd Alert: f:P: I/we don't tell you guys that your wasting your money/how impractical some of your uber-grade walnut, ultra engraved double rifle/shotgun is, so don't tell us about how we're dumb for wanting one of these black rifles--especially if it's non restricted.:p It'd be great to shoot a (non norinco) battle rifle again:)
